Sequential gear boxes are heavenly sounding that whining and stuttering is one of the best mechanical sounds ever.
@WDIOMUSG3 жыл бұрын
Ear Candy
@somedonkus694203 жыл бұрын
That's not necessarily because of the sequential gearbox. Road cars with sequentials don't sound like this (and I don't mean automated manuals). Race cars have straight cut gears while road cars have helical cut gears, with race cars you hear the gearbox whine becuase of the straight cut gears. With helical gears the teeth of the gear make contact with eachother progressively while straight cut gear make direct contact because they hit eachother head on, hence the glorious whining noise. A lot of road cars have a straight cut gear for reverse, that's why they whine in reverse.

Excellent review by Steve Sutcliffe, great editing, and nice to see a film that tips its hat to the past and the brand without feeling overly sentimental or saccharine.

@@OOLWprufKW I believe no. Most mid engine cars have the engine right behind the driver, then the transmission after that (I know the Boxster does, the 458, Mclaren...) Fun fact Porsche rotated the engine and the transmission à 180% degrees on the 991 RSR (which made the engine sit behind the driver, then the gearbox) and many complained how that made it a mid engine car (Porsche said it did so, so it could fit a bigger diffuser)

Lamborghini has always been very special to me. One of my first car related memories was when I saw a Gallardo parked outside of a restaurant me and my family were visiting and I could barely enjoy the food because all I could think about was that V10 monster parked outside. About 12 years later I had the fortune to finally get to drive a Gallardo and what a feeling it was. That V10 screaming behind me. The looks it drew. It was an emotion like no other. I am thoroughly a car guy. I appreciate great cars. I love Porsche, Aston Martin and the likes but Lamborghini is something that stands out above all other brands. The rawness. The styling and sound. The brutish handling. Sometimes unpolished but still true to its nature. It is true emotion. Thank you Lamborghini for creating these untamed bulls. Thank you for creating these emotions. Grazie mille.

Back around 1996, I was in the UK, in a field of grass that was almost head high for me as a 5 year old kid. On a gloomy day I saw this red Countach going down a road in the distance. It was like the sun only shined for this red gem of a car moving faster than everything else around it. I didn't get to look long but it felt like time stood still as I was running through the grass trying to see it better. It is part of what taught me that a car can be so much to someone without even being near one.

Cars like these will continue being a thing for a very long time, don't worry. We'll develop synthetic fuels, etc. Porsche is already working on that. The whole electric car thing will be reserved for A to B daily cars, but exclusive cars will have proper engines. The car world now is where the watch world was in the 80's, when the digital wristwatches came out and everyone was amazed by how light and accurate they were and how much information they'd give you compared to mechanical watches. But then mechanical watches didn't die out, in fact, they just became even better once people realized there was more to them than checking the time. The same will happen to supercars and hypercars. If anything, they'll be even more appreciated. Even if supercars and hypercars go full electric, it's only going to be temporary and plenty of people will demand ICE supercars and hypercars, loopholes will be found, and ICE supercars and hypercars will once again be as amazing as they are now, if not better. We are currently living in a clown world where mindless regulations are applied to things that are sold in such low quantities that it literally makes no difference in the grand picture whether they pollute 10x more or 10x less than they do now. Whether some Ferrari (that's like 1 car in 100000) is electric or has a NA V12 engines literally makes no difference to the environment, it's like a drop in the ocean, and besides, one diesel truck or bus pollutes more than 100 such V12 Ferrari's would in a year. Some day, people will realize that and stop applying pointless regulations to exclusive cars, because there's a point at which regulations are there simply for the sake of regulating, and not actually benefiting anyone. They ruin the essence of something very unique and special, with no actual benefits. And if there were benefits, are those benefits worth sacrificing something so special? I mean, it's like someone saying we can't have music anymore, because when people listen to music, they spend electricity, and that's bad for the environment. Yes, true, if nobody ever listened to music again, we'd save a lot of electricity and help the environment, but would it be worth it? Someone in power will realize that one day, and we'll once again have cars with V10, V12, W16 engines, Formula 1 will once again have V10 or V12 engines, etc. At least I hope so, and hope that this current state of the world we're in is only temporary.
