my friend Bryce,grew up across the road from them old cars that sat out in the country and were in the trees,he said he played in in the cars when he was little.he always told me about them,i had always heard the stories of this place for years..about 23 years ago i run a milk truck in that area and decided to just stop and look in the main building,it looked the same back then as it did when they pulled the cars out of it for the auction...kinda neat....

Welcome to Nebraska, Dan. Thanks for shooting the video. I would have loved to go up there but figured I'd be walking from my home in Omaha. It must have a dream come true to see these original new cars. Truly a once in a lifetime event.

So cool...like classic car Heaven! I would not care if the cars were 2 or 4 door...they are all beautiful and although they would cost for restoration, etc., most could be done nicely and cherished by the new owners. To a true collector, or of anything one can collect, the number one reason for doing it all, is for the love of it....never dollar signs.

I am a car guy. Sadly, the History Channel had a film crew making a video of this, and i don't think any of them were car guys. They put their film on TV, and mostly they talked about themselves and their stories about their cars they had, meanwhile a phenomenal automotive occurrence was taking place, ...and they missed it with "their" stories. Thanks for the compliment. My videos show the cars.

I’m sure he is selling these cars for way more than what they would be worth brand new in perfect shape! I notice a lot of 4 doors, I’m sure even back then they wanted a 2 door! Dude you got to realize 50k to 75k was a lot of miles on these cars back then! They would start smoking and knocking! I’ve seen many cars these days that have 500k plus if you keep the up keep without rebuilding the motor! I seen a Chevy HHR with over 500k miles with same engine and tyranny with no rebuild! Their is no way you could get those miles out of any of these cars, but I like these cars a lot better! They had style!

How did these cars end up just sitting there for all these years? Did the owner die? I would have thought the family would have sold everything long before now, just letting them rot like this is such a shame....Did most of the cars sell in this auction?

I took my sons and nephew. It was fun to look but everything went for way more money than it was worth. I think the 4 door rose colored 57 went for 40K to a women from Australia.
@guardian085279 жыл бұрын
Norman Williams Yeah, I think she was on the broadcast that history channel did for the auction. I hear old cars are hard to come by in Australia, and they are very enthusiastic for even the 4 door sedans which tend to get dumped on here in the states. I always hated that mentality because they are affordable and you can get a good driver that you can enjoy today without losing your house and your wallet trying to restore a hardtop or a convertible which sometimes can run into the 6 figure digits. Then you spend so much money on a car, you worry about every little scratch and nick and it takes the fun out of it. 40 grand for a 57 chevy sedan, even if it's all there is nuts. She could easily end up putting another 40 grand in it for mechanics, chrome, paint and interior. I have a 57 Belair Sedan that was restored back in 2000 and I only paid $8500 through eBay for it. Needed a valve job and replaced the old Power Glide transmission which was getting wonky with a more modern 3 speed with overdrive and I still haven't come close to touching the money she dropped on this car. I hope she bought it as a labor of love and really enjoys it, because no way will she make back the money she spent on it.
@upclass71798 жыл бұрын
+guardian08527 Hey, if you restored it to top notch with only 6 miles, wouldn't the Barret-Jackson auction bring like a $100,000 or more?

It's odd that even though these cars have rediculously low mileage; less than 8000, most of them are in such hammered condition, that it kind of negates the low mileage.

Poor financial management. Today's dealers dispose of vehicles within 24-48 hours. The potential revenue streams would have paid the mortgage on a beautiful property in Miami. Instead the elderly owners spent their final years in some crappy hick hole in Nebraska. A beautiful pool in Coral Gables beats a Nebraska blizzard, any day.
