Thank you so much Rob for all your great advice on the fork rebuild, I have also ordered the Spring Compressor from K2 too! A great series, it has helped me so much in my 1965 Series 3 Eibar restoration.

hi rob,very good clip of fork rebuild,just sent for a tool from k2.
@cjread-jones15282 жыл бұрын
Great bit of kit that K2 Customs tool....Works like a charm for even us novice green horns!...Good tip to use by Rob of Kickback Garage especially if located far from nearest garage like I am!...Only had slight bobble on first dismount then off to the races... Only missing the "anti shake rattle and roll" washers which can be added on anytime!

The forks should be checked for straightness once disassembled. Take a long steel rod through the link bolts holes and run it all the way through both sides of the fork. Check the rake angle of the forks. Take measurements and compare with what they should be. Find a shop that has a jig to straighten if need be. Once the links are installed, check that the axle will be straight with a rod through the links.

If you ever get the chance Rob, could you make a video on a lambretta front hub rebuild, ive searched the net and cant find one. Im in the process of doing mine and while its not a hard job it would be beneficial to the lambretta community. I would try and make one myself but im terrible in front of a camera plus i have a face for radio
@kickbackgarage4 жыл бұрын
Radio face here too.. Haha. Steve has one on padskzbin.info/www/bejne/iXyYf6KVrMioqJo and changing the bearings on a drum is very streght forward. I have never done it myself because ive always ran hydraulic disk up front. I have however got a couple of wheels lying around, so can do it but it won`t be for a while. I`m pretty booked up over the next month and I have a fella with a non runner coming to me that I need to sort asap.
@matknight4 жыл бұрын
@@kickbackgarage i saw Steves video but it only deals with the brake shoes, i was more interested in the bearing installation along with gear drive and seals. Almost done mine now, bit harder for me with arthritic fingers but look forward to your next installation Rob.
@1russbarber2 жыл бұрын
hi Rob is there a video showing which way the bearings go on the forks?
@kickbackgarage2 жыл бұрын
You will feel it straight away if you fit them upside down. I use loose balls myself (there is a video of that) but off the top of my head the cage faces down.

Hi Rob! Ok? What was that grease you used on the fork springs, etc? Cheers - Craig
@kickbackgarage5 ай бұрын
The brand doesn't really matter. I prefer marine grease for it's water repellent properties
@roymichaeldeanable4 жыл бұрын
This is really interesting...I am comparing with my Peugeot Tweet which is a more conventional motorbike style of fork....

What grease do you use, is it marine grease?
@kickbackgarage4 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, yes. I prefer marine grease in the fork because it has good anti corrosion properties and prevents water from washing it out. It's quite open to the road elements.
@Craigyingermany4 жыл бұрын
Can you let me know the type etc?@@kickbackgarage
@kickbackgarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes mate, I use belray marine. It's extreme pressure waterproof stuff.

Kickback Garage will try again. If not will send my aged P in UK and get forwarded. Loved the ride out video. Fantastic scenery in Norway. Visited one time but a bit of a whistle stop visit to construction sites. In my bucket list to take a tour.
