Rats! 😠 Arnie, don’t beat yourself up too badly… you have many responsibilities, lots of moving cogs and sometimes those ewes lamb fast. Trying to make the switch was the best for the lambs that would have struggled with one teet. Lambing is stressful times, I’m glad you two are switched to once a year and the way you space the lambs arrival out is brilliant.

Good afternoon Arnie and Lynn. Gosh that mama was really making noise. She thinks Arnie stole her baby. Well you have to make the best decision at the time. Hopefully that baby gets adopted. I completely understand about not being able to go back to sleep. That would happen to me after being out after an emergency surgery. Rough night in the barn. Arnie does a great job. ❤❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

So sorry about the lamb that didn’t break its sac! We can only do what we can do, but I know that won’t stop Arnie beating himself up about it. Glad that meant the mum could adopt the other lamb though! If it works out, anyway.

Now I’ve never tried but have seen a few videos about it. Apparently if you mix say grain(anything really) and baking soda together. You can put it in a long flat container with holes at each end. Place near rat area. They eat it. Rats, mice(rodents) can’t burp. So the baking soda well you know. It is cheap, safe around any of your other farm animals that might get it. Thanks for the videos. Hope you are getting some rest.

I think the ewe eating her placenta during the adopted lambs nursing would aid in the bonding-as she’s going to associate her own birthing smells with it. Everything has been going so well, one misstep just shows you’re still human!

It is impossible to not lose lambs at this time of year especially with the numbers we have. I am extremely happy with how it's been going overall. Very few disasters 🙂

Is glucol just an oral supplement for the moms ?

Glycol is a little sugar for them if they’re slow on recovery, ie lamb sickness or milk fever. Helps if they’re not eating or drinking well after lambing. She may also have a retained placenta.

I think it provides a bit of energy but also could be a laxative to help her as well. Lynn will correct me if I'm wrong. But I'm thinking that's the benefits.

I love my viewers! They know I am busy and both responded correctly 🥰 After lambing, if the ewe looks really exhausted, a glucose or sugar boost just perks them up and makes them recoup quicker
