Further evidence that Martell had checked out of the business early on is the video reel they did before LAMH. They were originally pitching "No Holts Barred" and had video of them at a construction home site interacting. I think Martell is a reflection of his father, but is scared to face the fact there are parts of his life he comes up short. So clings to this idea of who he is suppose to be. This perfect dad image, perfect husband, smart business man, and well known man throughout the community is a façade he kept up for long. Underneath all of the suits and luxury lifestyle, Martell is still that kid from the other side of the tracks. Martell has become that man that mistreated women, like his father treated his mother. He is no longer financially capable to sustain that life and now requires assistance from others. Martell have become his father the man that he disliked. At the end he is reacting off his fear, because his fear has become his reality.
