Patrick Northrup Unsure (outlaw king perhaps) what movies the clips are from but the song isn’t about the border rievers but instead to a period of time long before them. The ballad is about how the 2nd Lord Douglas raided over the border from Scotland and the battle of Otterburn where his forces defeated Harry Hotspur. His most noted forebear was the good Sir James or the Black Douglas who was a noted warrior and right hand man of Robert Bruce king of Scots in the 1300’s
