did you know lana with blue banisters symbolises bruises and how from blue they turn green and then grey and they eventually fade away? “said he’d come back every may just to help me if i paint my banisters blue“ (a man creates the bruises either physical or mental) “every time it turns to may all my sisters come to paint my banisters green my blue banisters grey“ (with the help of her friends she manages to recover and her bruises fade away) ❤️

Sweet Carolina is actually dedicated for her sister Caroline (Chuck), whom was pregnant during the making of the song so that’s why she says “baby blues”, if she ever has post-birth depression, lana will be there for her. Also, living legend, nectar of the gods, thunder and Cherry blossom were all unreleased tracks before this album, from around 2014-2017 and dealer feats the last shadow puppet member, miles Kane

I actually really like how long the album is. She's referencing old styles of music in the production and instrumentation, so it makes sense that the songs would be comparable in structure and length to songs from the time. An hour long album is not unheard of. It's just not as common today, where the trend in current pop music is 2-3 minute songs. Also, I just have to say, I don't think any of us were prepared for "Dealer."

Living legend sounds like Lana is singing to her future unborn child. The title track and sweet Carolina have themes of having the baby blues. Cherry Blossom is a lullaby. @@katelynsandoval7550 yeah but that was back in 2014 and the fact that it’s on this album now could be something deeper than just randomly putting it on the album because she had nothing else. The title track has the lyrics “give me children, take away my pain and paint my banisters blue” so the lyrics of Living Legend could mean something totally different in the context of this album. The title track is the title track for a reason. When I really think about the lyrics on the title track it could give us a sign as to why these songs are on this album now. Sweet Carolina says writing credits from her sister and dad but that does not mean the lyrics are about her sister. The lyrics could actually be from her sister and father to Lana and Lana is just simply singing them as the narrator. Cherry Blossom is a lullaby and again the lyrics could be interpreted completely different than how they were originally intended. She talked about being annoyed that those songs leaked bc it’s difficult to explain why they’re on this album now and that could possibly be the reason. If we never knew those songs existed and they were on this album they would tie in to the themes of the title track. When it comes to living legend people automatically assume she’s singing to a child bc of the lyrics “Blackbirds will sing in the same key As you play in the shoes that I bought you And sweet baby Jane don't know a thing About my songs” and “you never cared about my name” and the wahhhh wahhh part she does at the end is so torched and emotional. Im not saying im right it’s just a theory but it all stems from the title track. Her sister is pregnant and Lana has something missing and this time around it’s not just because of a man this time.. it’s much deeper

Chery Blossom is a lullaby, that's why it's so stripped down. Also, CB, Nectar and Living legend are from 2013 Ultraviolence sessions. Thunder and Dealer are from the Last shadow puppets' scrapped collab album, the same one California was from. Perfectly said by BILLBOARD: "Few new artists of the 2010s emerged so fully formed, with a voice and image beyond their years. To her devoted fans, she inspires near-religious fervor, like a millennial Stevie Nicks with the aura of Princess Diana. Lana could’ve been speaking metaphorically, but I’m 99.999% sure she’s in recovery and substance use is a big part of her past. Side note that’s not needed for this album, but I thought it was interesting: In “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me” she talks about “serving up God in a burnt coffee pot for the triad” that always reminded me of being of service at meetings by making coffee, greeting, and setting up chairs etc. I don’t know if that was what she was referring to that’s just my interpretation.

🌟 = marked 0:53 - Text Book 🌟 5:43 - Blue Banisters 7:56 - Arcadia 9:56 - Interlude - The Trio 🌟 11:34 - Black Bathing Suit 🌟 14:09 - If You Lie Down With Me 15:29 - Beautiful 🌟 18:03 - Violets For Roses 🌟 20:27 - Dealer 🌟 23:29 - Thunder 25:35 - Wildflower Wildfire 28:14 - Nectar Of The Gods 🌟 30:03 - Living Legend 🌟 31:46 - Cherry Blossom 32:57 - Sweet Carolina 34:51 - Final Thoughts my fav songs on my first listen were black bathing suit, if you lie down with me and thunder but now i'm obsessed with living legend & dealer and black bathing suit. I just wanted to say that everyone needs to stop comparing all her albums to nfr lana isn't even trying to recreate it, i think all of her records are unique and beautiful and that each time she will release an album we need to have new ears, new eyes and an open mind to whatever she's telling us about so we can enjoy it more. sending love for everyone 🖤.

I dont mind too much people comparing albums, I mean certain albums just set the bar for people for albums to come. Not in a way to say that an album is bad because you don't like it as much as another, but I think it's fine to say that you don't like one album as much as another.

Violets For Roses and Nectar of the Gods are my favorite songs. Can't stop listening. The queen gave us not one but two perfect albums this year. 👸 👑

nectar of the gods was written for ultaviolence, the chorus even calls back to cruel world, but that’s why the lyrics are kinda dark and it mentions heroin, it’s because it belongs to a different era of hers also, sweet caroline is dedicated to her sister who’s name is caroline. the songs deals with postpartum depression which is why she sings about the baby blues, as her sister just had her first child
