I really liked Video Games and Born to Die as singles, but Blue Jeans was what really captivated me and kept me invested in Lana. Now she’s my favourite artist - can’t wait until her new release in March.

Lana used that “whine-y” voice often earlier in her career. It has like a twang to it, huh. A lot of people said/say that she sounds like she’s whining and moaning all the time, but I think it’s a gorgeous and unique vocal style. It’s pouty, there’s an attitude to it. She has this more high-pitched, “cute” voice too (good example can be heard in “Off to the Races” and “Lolita”, if you ever get to full albums), and also this 50’s/60’s Hollywood sound, where she ends her notes with very subtle, pretty trills, very Marilyn Monroe/Betty Boop-esque (you can kind of hear it when she says the word “end” in “I will love you til the end of time”). She’s matured a lot vocally since then though, I can’t explain how, I suppose it’s like her voice grew up with her. Maybe you’ll see that as you work through these music videos.

we plan on checking out live performances and stuff when we get thru all her videos... Sadly i dont think we will do album reactions, we only get a few hours to hang out every week, and we try check out all the stuff we have been saving all week to watch together. I know our schedule/distance apart doesnt matter to most people (and it shouldnt), but thats about where we stand atm.. We fully intend on listening to the albums and sharing our thoughts on them as we grow with Lana... i know its not the same, but hopefully its a nice middle ground.
