(Jergins Tunnel) exists but was closed in 1967. It was built to facilitate pedestrian access to the beach in Long Beach. Nowadays, few people remember this tunnel. The metaphor is that she questions when it will be her turn to be forgotten, just like the tunnel. And then she pleads "don't forget me," and makes a point of reaffirming the tunnel's existence throughout the song. In my humble opinion, "Ocean Blvd" is light and visibility, the "Tunnel" is shadow and darkness. The desire of any human being is to be light, to be loved and to never remain in darkness (tunnel). This entire album lives around this duality. In summary: the title theme of this LP is a metaphor.
