I think rather than complaining about it, it would be nicer if you politely pointed out more spefically where her accent comes from, for the sake of being constructive. When an American, or any foreign person I'm sure, refers to a British accent when they hear any accent that comes from the UK, they choose the general word "British" because it's simple and clear that it comes from that area.
