She was singing about her boyfriend at the time, who suffered from extreme depression. He was unable to see the beauty in life. And the relationship inevitability failed, as she was unable to get him to change the way he saw life at the time. "And i can't do nothing about his strange weather" talking about his depression. Gorgeous artistry, as always with Lana !! 💙💙💙 The guy in the music video is the same guy depicted in west coast, as you recalled ! And he represents Lana's lover at the time, who was the one who inspired Shades of Cool, as well as Black Beauty, and in this music video, the theory is that it's Lana's "ghost", if you will, after he lost her when the relationship ended. That's why you see him looking back from his car towards Lana, who was watching him looking really disappointed, yet he didn't see anybody over there. She wasn't actually there anymore in the physical. And then her swimming in the pool was him reminiscing about her in their past, as towards the end of the video, you see him alone at that same window with the view into the pool where you saw her swimming past earlier in the video, hauntingly. Gorgeous visually, per usual. I'm glad you're opening up to more of her music !! She's worth the time and energy, which is great. It shouldn't be laborious. She'll alter your brain chemistry if you let her. 😅 🧠
