React to Lana Del Rey’s song dealer featuring miles Kane next, she uses a lot of chest in that song and gets very loud which is a very different type of vocal for her. In off to the races she also does interesting vocals she switches between two voices one low smokey tone and then to a higher cartoonish Betty boop sound

The lore behind this song and video is that Lana plays a past lover of the man in the video. I can’t remember if he offed her or not but she’s a ghost of the lover that’s now gone. The instrumental part with the guitar is supposed to represent him not actually listening to her and drowning out her voice because he’s never listening. Such a cool song. I love it!

I remember Lana saying once (I'm not sure where I heard it originally, but there's a video I found through google and a quote in Papermag) that she will often hold a sheet of paper between her mouth and the microphone to mute her voice, which I think is so interesting (especially as a singer with a similar tone and vocal range to her) and creates such a wonderful practical effect amongst the other production elements. Loved the commentary, it's one of my favourite songs of hers. I'll watch any Lana videos if you do more! 💜

Lana can make her voice really deep and low and really high pitched baby and you could tell early in her career she would play with her voice and it was good but the media bashed her for it a lot so she had to make her voice sound more serious than her baby voice, people say she cant sing like she used to cause she vaped or used to smoke bur truly her baby voice is still there and it slips out like this year in her milan show it came out and also people should listen to arcadia, chemtrails, ocean Blvd and the grants she can still sing people are just used to her old way of singing but she had to change to be taken serious.

4:34 As someone who does amateur audio engineering, this can be a symptom of a bit too much reverb applied to lead vocals. Perhaps adjusting that effect with bias towards lower vocal frequencies would compensate on intelligibility. I would dial that down a notch for the chorus if I was working on this album. But, thematically it could have been a creative choice to emulate the clouded emotional intensity of infatuation where you aren’t fully aware of the words coming out of your own mouth or your actions, a loss of cognitive objectivity in the moment. And I’d go along with that. Her music has a strong emotional layer that can be lost with a logical analysis.

Old Money and God knows I tried are probably vocally the most impressive songs from her. I think she pretty much showcases her whole range in those songs. White Dress and The Greatest are also good. In my opinion none of her singles or most popular songs among the fanbase showcase her vocal prowess as much, which makes sense because a hit song has to be catchy and not necessarily vocally impressive.

Im back enjoying another visit to your reaction, and i wanted to mention how you notice how Lana's vocals seem lost behind the instrumentals, and that was intentional. Obviously during the bridge she's extremely drowned out, almost as if you're in the middle of a high, you're all drugged out and it's an intentional choice she made for mostly this entire album, Ultraviolence. Hopefully you're able to jump into her other bodies of work, such as possibly my favorite, which is NFR. Her vocals are much more to the front, and much more clear. And i know I've bugged you enough in regards to you reacting to this song, but her live performance from her 2015's Endless Summer Tour !! It's SO WORTHY !!!! 😅😊 Hope you're doing well, sir !

While I agree with comments below that you should quit your job and do all of Lana's discography, I would urge you to do at least a little more Lana. You should give Blue Banisters (2021) a listen through and choose something off there to do. It is her most pared-down album, with lots of vocal "mistakes" left on the records (pitchiness, muttering, etc.) but way Lana does it makes her vocals some of the most beautiful I think we've ever heard from any artist, specifically on that album. Very interested to hear your take.
