Yes, she breaks the rules of pop, she's an alternative artist!

She makes her own rules, and thats why she's considered one of the best singers/songwriters of the last decade, according to many, many music critics, or how they call it abroad "the finest songwriter of America"

As you are a musician, I expected a bit more depth in the analysis than simply "sad and annoying". What was annoying about it in particular to your musical ear? Unresolved melodies? Overbearing mixing? Vocals/lyrics? I guess you're free to just say it was annoying to you and leave it at that, a valid opinion, I just hoped for some more substance to your argument so that I could maybe better understand your viewpoint. Appreciate honest reactors like yourself, however.

It was for the movie “the great Gatsby” she got help writing the song from the producers of the movie. But she has a certain aesthetic that not everyone will like. Just like every artist will not be everyones cup of tea. “Born to die” is one of my favorite albums its like hip hop r&b mixed with alternative pop.

Oh, for God's sake , let the man suffer from a bad case of misogyny in peace...hehe 😜. I think the comment about her being a woman was very useful for understanding everything that came after that, which was a whole lot of " I hate the song because I think poorly of women", disguised as something else, of course, but I think we all managed to read between the lines. Luckily there are millions of men that enjoy Lana's artistry and songwriting and one only has to check the reactions on KZbin to know it. I feel sorry for the reactor tbh.

@superstar-lr3un2 жыл бұрын
of course it doesnt resonate with them and they find it annoying, they are men. she is describing how a woman feel about the beauty standard that women always have to look younger and younger, more like a child, to be considered beautiful, like she said. thats why this song is relating, because she was speaking about a real issue and made it so majestic but without overshadowing the sadness of what it is.

Resonates with me & im a man, 22 so I guess you could call me a young “man” but I’ve loved the great gatsby since highschool & when I rode with my older sister she would let me pick songs off her playlist & some of the few I actually liked were Lana songs. Brings back memories of me & my sis riding in the car & the great gatsby & the few women that I’ve dated who actually could appreciate Lana. Your a fucking clown for thinking only women can appreciate this song💀🤡 if I said the same thing about men I’d be called sexist or some other bs. (Only men can appreciate this song) Stop making assumptions & making a fool out of yourself, you need an argument besides “men can’t understand it” 🤡 try to use your brain, you might be shocked by what it can do if you actually use it Haha & yeah the beauty standards isn’t that the classic💀 you think men don’t have beauty standards? If we’re over 200 lbs we’re considered fat & useless unless your rich, don’t have abs your basically useless, don’t have a huge dick? Good luck. Women have to just not be fat that’s it, you can have tiny tits, been fucked 200+ times like some of the girls Ik & you’ll still get a husband. Men? No, you better have money at the very least, $ & a big dick & you’ll be very successful or you better be a genius that ab sums it up

So my take is that she has realized her youth and beauty and capitalized on that realization to get all life has to offer. For some reason she has had a glimpse of this not being forever and has very real concerns about what happens when this very lucky genetic gift runs out. If I had a diminishing gift, I'd be concerned as well. I believe that is what the piece is about.

I love Lana, but this is probably one of my least favorite of her songs, don't know why it's her most viewed. I prefer "Cinnamon Girl" or "Blue Jeans" or "Shades of Cool" or "High by the Beach" or "Venice Bitch", or even "Off to the Races".
