Lancaster archery videos are so informative. If there's something you don't know about archery look at Lancaster archery videos and I'm certain they have a video that covers it. Great work guys!!

You folks at home, NEVER draw a bow without an arrow in it.

Thanks for commenting Bob. Your comment is certainly correct if the archer is using a live, shootable release. But there are devices now that allow archers to draw a bow safely without an arrow in it. There are safe draws, which don't have any kind of release mechanism, so they can't release a bowstring. Also, there are releases that have locks built into them, specifically for training with a release without actually shooting your bow. You draw back an empty bow, go through the shot process, including activating the release, but it doesn't fire. That's what we used here. STAN makes a series of releases with what's called "trainer locks." For our video demonstration here, it would have been more dangerous to have an arrow on the bow. Just like when we check draw length in our shop, we use safe draws, and have customers draw bows without arrows.

So.... I got measured and had a bow fitted around August. All season I practiced and learned to shoot.... But I kinda felt scrunched. Just now got my wife to help me, and I’m 1.5-2 inches longer than I was measured.

In this video demonstration I thought he appeared to have a very high elbow. Looked like the bow D.L. should have been longer than the 28.5 stated? Thoughts?

Is it the same for a traditional recurve bows
@LancasterArcherySupply6 жыл бұрын
Yes....determining draw length is universal. However, as you probably know, a traditional recurve effectively has no finite draw length. You can draw the same bow 25 inches or 32 inches. So determining draw length for a traditional recurve does not need to be quite so precise. It is good to know what your ideal length is, however.
