Lance Mountain has always talked like he didn't deserve to be there and that he was just filler. He acts like he wasn't a major influence or the same level of athlete as the all the other guys. I hope deep in his heart or in the back of his mind he doesn't believe that. I understand that it is great to be humble but it is also good to not sell yourself short. Watch the tapes buddy, you were/are a awesome skater and by all I can see a good human being and very special guy.

D34dBaWx Well it's the thing that you got Tony Hawk and Mullen. Stevie and McGill were on the team but these two out shun them. Fast forward to now and while they made in impact Lance was a just as bug influence. You can feel the purity of his love for skateboarding and it inspires so many people today.

I really respect this guy. He got his chance in the moment and worked it to the best of his ability. He was a major influence on me because of his humor. He WAS the attitude of skateboarding in the 80s. He mattered. God bless Lance Mountain!

Lance and Tommy were the ones, I related to and wanted to see skating. Vallely, too. Lance and Luceros part in helping to pioneer early modern street skating, is overlooked by too many.

I Thought Lance was about to say. I'm one of the most outspoken Jerks in the industry, it's easy to get away with what you want, when you work for a company like vision. We all know that interview.🐊

You know, if there was a remake of the bones brigade story that took place in the 70's a young michael richards would have been great to play Lance Mountain.

+ung427 I could see that movie getting made, but i hope it never does.

+ung427 Also i just looked up who michael richards is. hahaha kramer mountain!

Yeah, and just look up some old 1970's michael richards SNL or Fridays stuff on youtube and you can totally see how he could have played Lance. Especially the time when he brings his parents to watch him skate and falls into the bowl, knocking himself out while just standing around. Then all of the skaters are pissed at him and he can only come to the next skate spot if he promises to just sit there and not skate, and he has to wear a helmet. I can just see Michael Richards convulsing down at the bottom of the bowl, haa haa.

I first saw Lance Mountain introduction in that issue of Thrasher where he drops into the pool of water . It was my impression that he was a pro skater from Varaflex and had all the necessary skills to compete at a pro level. Nothing great , nothing bad , just your run-of-the-mill pro skater. Going to Powell was a big break for him. Varaflex skateboards were logs and even sold as cheap crap boards at Target in later years.
