Heavy, heavy Couch. Carroll and Andrew talk starting their own companies as mere children, still skating as vets, meeting for the first time, resting bitch face, and Stay Flared, of course.

Shakib Rahman hes pretty much calling a generation out for being pussys that are afraid not to form their own opinions and find their own tastes...Which encourages things like trap music to get popularized. Because it becomes a dichotomy of will, that is based on the fact that if you arent down you are a loser. So dumb kids that need to develop mentally fall into a trap of following whats "popular" for fear of being a "loser" if they dont like what everyone likes never questioning why they like it.

Easily one of my favorite videos of all time; two OGs talking about skating, you can really see the camaraderie in skating in the way Reynolds and Carroll and Howard talk so chill with each other. And The Boss couldn't be more on point with his realtalk at the end, a lot of the rap on the radio is just trash. Awesome video

Andrew has a good point about weed. And this goes for any drugs, alcohol, partying. Feel free to live a fast, hard, and crazy life when you are young, but just know that it's going to smack you back in the face. That shit will burn you out REALLY quick. Honestly, if you have any ambition to live an above average life, take it easy with the drugs and alcohol until you've made it to where you want to be. I'm not saying you will be a bum, but you will more than likely end up an average Joe who only looks to the end of their work day so they can crash on the couch and drink or smoke.
@rodjato8 жыл бұрын
+PONYBOYonline Yeah I completely agree. Smoking weed can kill your ambition..
@saari9858 жыл бұрын
+PONYBOYonline i respect reynolds for that statement but its very ironic because his brand and his team are known for beignet smoking drinkers playing disrespectful rap/hip hop music. Like he owns the company where most of his riders endorse the thing he doesn't want kids to emulate
@austinhoffman2198 жыл бұрын
+PONYBOYonline Totally agree.
@timcasey62798 жыл бұрын
+PONYBOYonline That is true, but however I don't think soft drug use slows down a dedicated skateboarder, musician, ect. Weed doesn't make or break people but for sure Ive seen it turn people into total losers.
@gregdawe27868 жыл бұрын
+saari985 Ya but he is always vocal against it, hes just not their dad. His brand is not about pussy weed money and shit like that, thats shake junt, or at least it was, seems like they chilled out a bit too. Baker is about bros, passion, and family, a bunch of them just happen to smoke weed and party a lot but if you watch Epicly later'd (which i would recommend) you'll see the negative affects are pretty rampant, these guys like spanky and herm and even andrew, are having fun now by being adults. If you think baker is selling and image about weed, ur missing the ppoint. Kids are impressionable i get it, but that comes down to parenting imo. My parents taught me what i needed to know. I didn't get my moral compass from a skateboard brand.

I'm kinda high, and was trying to write a fan letter to James Marsters. But I coudn't figure out how, so I went on KZbin to distract me from my failure. I clicked on this video, because Mike and Andrew are two of my favorite skaters. I haven't watched the whole video through, but I know I've watched it before. I think I'm going to sleep easy now, thinking about their collective conritbutions to skateboarding. They both have amazing frontside flips. Good night.

This younger generation is fucked. They feed you this dead-brain media and you kids LOVE it. Money. Arrogance. Disrespect. Swag? You kids will bottom out if you don't shape up. Be watchful. Be slick. Be friendly. Lay off the substances. Listen to your elders. Listen to some Miles Davis while pushing around your hood. Eat good. Sleep good. Speak intelligently. Use that brain and skate like its your last day on Earth. That's the good life, kids.
@anhiirr9 жыл бұрын
TheNamesJohnnyYuma its been this way for a while....whats sadder is what adults are being fed. humans are shit at the core so assholes like to capitalize on it. You see some celeb on the spot for being "human" it makes sack of shit normal people rationalize that its ok to be themselves if miley is a shit show....only difference between them is a couple million dollars...the gap will never be closed. All the idiots need is a "feeling" that they are better than people like miley...amanda bynes etc... or a better man than any athlete that cheats on their wife or commits domestic violence...if thats where our standards are then no wonder people fall into a capitalist trap. Its called indoctrination this Nature vs Nurture shit is bs....indoctrination has proven that the nurture factors can be provided by influencing the society as a whole. The "American" mentality has been indoctrinated into youths and bred into their dna as the media and politics serve as a tit they can suckle on to gain self worth and mental security. In order to rationalize that its ok to not be a millionaire living the 1% life. This indoctrination was also a solution in the biblical era. Nothing has changed. Only the perception of the self. Now sacks of shit think its ok to be themselves nothing more. At least in the past people knew where they stood.

Interesting how Andrew talks ''down '' on kids who just want to skate and smoked weed. But that's exactly what he did. He even said it himself. He saw Penny and Muska be famous in California,skate all day,smoke and party at night. He got inspired by that. In his The End era he even looks like Penny. The trick selection,the clothes etc. Everything was like Penny. Off the board he also did just like Penny. Smoked weed all the time and partied like crazy. I would think he would understand the kids a bit more...

i met him at a demo in atlanta once like about a year after they had just launched Deathwish as an official company, him and Terry Kennedy were the coolest guys in the entire group. Both of them were actually smiling while taking pics in the middle of skating on top of the ramps with random kids. Andrew was my favorite skater before that day, and after seeing how he handled his fans during the peak of his career he became my role model
@euminkong3 жыл бұрын

Paul Lukes Your favorite color is wrong. See how crazy that sounds?
@TenderloinsToughest7 жыл бұрын
s c h i z ø p h r e n i c Except there's a clear method for identifying quality music, including hip-hop/rap from shitty music. Colors are all the same (aside from the color itself being different), music is not. It's not as simple as you're making it. Trap music has dope beats, I can admit that, but the lyrics and rapping are pure garbage. Those producers should take their beats to some better lyricists and make classic, timeless music, instead of the temporary flash in the pan it will be.
