Lance, thanks for the basics “class” on latte art. Very good! You asked about cement vs concrete. - Cement is the “glue” that holds sand and rock (aggregate) together. Think of cementing them together. - concrete is the mixture and finished product. It’s a composite of aggregate cemented together. - concrete doesn’t get its strength from drying. “Curing” concrete actually requires water for the chemical reactions to work. That’s why you can set a fence post either poured concrete and immediately cover it up with dirt. - Fun Facts - concrete never stops curing and it produces heat. A newly poured driveway can be walked on usually in 24 hours, but you have to wait a couple days to drive a car on it. Large structures like dams must have coolant piping in their structure. The coolant carries away excess heat generated by the curing concrete. 50 years after the Hoover dam was built, it was still generating a tiny amount of heat.

I can truthfully say I've watched hours of latte art tutorial vids over the years. Your definitive video comes along with all the critical information needed to understand what's going on in the cup and begs the question "why has no-one made this video before?" Simple answer. Mastery matters and many videos demonstrate that, but analysing that understanding and breaking it down into tangible and teachable steps takes SO MUCH investment and is so generous. I can understand why no-one has made this video before. I feel as though it's the only vid which will help people like me progress without paying for classes. Thank you so much! Can't wait to practice and look forward to every new vid. I would definitely support you on Patreon. You deserve a return on all the investment you've made for us.

I've been trying to practice my latte art at home recently and thanks to a friend's recommendation, I got here. To all the 'gurus' out there who wants to make your "online educational video", this is how you do it. Content packed with honest, truthful, analytical and detailed knowledge. I always believe letting one understands "why" instead of knowing "how" is the better way to teach because one gets to grasp the concept and think for themselves and re-apply them in different circumstances. However, if one wants to learn "how", tutorial videos exist for a reason! AND I wish to clarify tutorial videos are great too! Especially when you want to pick up something quickly, but to REALLY know "HOW'? Knowing 'why' always helped! Believe me, not everyone can teach, and if you can't, your student knows. And for sure, I definitely know Lance Hedrick can teach SUPER WELL! Thank you for your channel, keep doing what you are doing! Supporting from Malaysia!

You are Killing me. It's been years and years I've been trying. And here I'm a great master of everything, ping pong, magic, backgammon, hand shadows, poker. And I can't for the LIFE of me get a grip on this. I'm such a failure in life until I get this. I"m sooooo depressed.

Yeah i really have. Making my morning coffee has been 10 minutes of happiness for my since i started out. Just me and the machine at 6.30 in the morning when the wife and the kid are still sleeping. It just gives me a kind of peace i guess. But with your help i have been improving my skills and taste aswell. So every morning gives me an even better start. For me that makes a big difference. Also your humor is great haha

After watching around 10 hours videos of latte art, I must say this is perhaps the best tutorial one can find in the interweb. An improvement idea: it would be great to have a couple of first-person views on the pour, I think it’s gonna really help to memorise how the things have to look. Cheers, looking forward to the next tutorials!
@LanceHedrick3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! When you say first-person views, what do you mean? In my mind, overhead seems like first-person, but I had that in the video, so are you thinking of something different? Happy for critique!
@konstantinpasko91653 жыл бұрын
@@LanceHedrick hey, yes, I meant an overhead view and yes, you have one, but the hands are coming to the scene from the top of the screen, it need to be 180 rotate 🙂
@LanceHedrick3 жыл бұрын
If you have ideas on how to get that shot, I'm all ears lol! Hard to get all the angles for these videos without a full out production team 🤣🤣🤣 Appreciate it though!
@konstantinpasko91653 жыл бұрын
@@LanceHedrick Fake it till you make it! For me it was enough to lock the rotation position on the phone and turn it 180 while on that scene 🙂

I wish I saw this video many months ago, before I gave up on the idea that I could draw on coffee. Thank you heartily for your educational explanation and you didn't make the video short. I was prepared to pay for such a great explanation. I am writing to you while I sip the most beautiful heart I have drawn in my life. Google Translation.

As a newer channel, I feel like you've got so much potential. You're already one of the best coffee presenters I've watched. You're entertaining while also brutally specific. My milk steaming is also far better using far less effort after watching your last video. I'd like to mention a little technical thing. Camera and perspective is great - especially your front-on shot which reminds me of James Hoffman's set up. But when the camera goes off your face, we rely only on the sound of your voice (without visual cues or lip reading for support). If the background music is too loud, it sometimes made it a little difficult to catch all of your words (as you naturally speak quite quickly).
@LanceHedrick3 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Was the music loud in this one? I had it turned way down from the milk steaming video to ensure that didn't happen. So sorry! Feel free to put on the closed caption option in the toolbar to help! I'll make a note about that again. Very sorry about that. But thank you for the kind words!
@onelegoleg3 жыл бұрын
@@LanceHedrick The backing music was quite noticable in the milk steaming video, but this one is much better. It was just a couple of moments where you cut to the cup and I would have to focus to catch all of your words alongside the music. Really not meaning to complain at all. Your videos are great, and I think a little lo-fi background music is a nice touch
@LanceHedrick3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Happy to have it brought it my attention. Didn't even notice the music first two passes lol. Told my friend editing it to not take it out completely. He brought to my attention it was, indeed, there lol. Thanks for telling me! Genuinely happy for criticism and feedback, positive or negative.

Although the terms cement and concrete often are used interchangeably, cement is actually an ingredient of concrete, cement comprises from 10 to 15 percent of the concrete mix, by volume, The aggregates are sand and gravel or crushed stone. for your analogy, both can be used. thank you for your videos.

I've had my espresso machine for about 3 months now. I've casually tried making art in my wife's morning lattes and it's usually more like seeing shapes in the clouds than any clear design. I just watched this video and tried. I was honestly surprised how good my first attempt was. Excellent instruction!
