I did it!!! Thank you so much for this video! I pulled it off in 7 1/2 hours last night with pretty much not a single hang up. And I did it just based off of this video and never having done anything this involved before. I probably could have even done it in less time but I was pretty tired at the end seeing as I finished at 5am. The only thing I did different was took the alternator bracket off of that other piece to make it easier to get it back in at the end. Besides that and not being able to fit the torque wrench in at a few spots it was a breeze. Thank you so much for posting this!! I'm so pumped that I actually pulled this off when I am far from a mechanic.

Fantastic! I've done this twice on my sons car (2006 Lancer). 1st at 114,000 miles and again at 214,000 miles. I'm doing his best friends soon (same model) . 2 things ; 1st I use water pump gasket sealer and 2nd I replace the crankshaft position sensor while I'm in there. Great video! You are an artist sir!

Thank you so much for putting this video up. I used your video to replace the timing belt, tensioner, water pump and also did the oil seals (which were leaking) on my Lancer today. It was such an incredible relief when it was all back together and started first go. I was very pleased as I have never done a job of this scale before on a car. I bought my 2003 CE Lancer (Australia) brand new and still love it after 20 years. It's never once let me down. To anyone out there thinking of doing this work, follow this video in detail and use common sense and all will be good.

Thank you so much for uploading this video with every detail properly recorded. I started the job with some friends yesterday and put in about 7 hours. I changed the crankshaft pulley, serpentine belt, and timing belt on my car. The only thing I had trouble with was aligning the pulleys since the timing belt had torn but other than that this video made my day. I saved about 150dlls easily.

Thanks for this great video, guys! I'm just finishing this job on my 2006 Lancer, as well as an oil change, power steering fluid flush, brake fluid flush, and fuel system clean-out including taking off the fuel injectors and flushing them, and probably saved around $1500. The way you recorded your sequence of steps was easy to follow, and I liked the way you cracked the crankshaft nut with the car starter and breaker bar; easy-peasy! The only thing I went to learn elsewhere was how to align the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets, since my camshaft sprocket rotated a little between taking the old belt off and putting the new one on and I didn't fully trust the marks I'd made earlier. I'll be back on the road shortly; thanks again!

Was just curious if you had ever thought about changing the roll stoppers for the lancer. From what I've gathered online a fair number of people have problems with theirs (including myself). The front roll-stopper is pretty easy to change out but that rear one can be a pain. I know I'd be a happy subscriber with your input!
@DarkDragonWing8 жыл бұрын
+Jordyn Maglalang I see. What part do you mean by roll stopper?
@Jordynmagz8 жыл бұрын
+DarkDragonWing The roll stoppers are engine mounts which are not load bearing. They are meant to restrict the engine from moving too much. They're parts 3 and 6 from farm7.static.flickr.com/6133/6011883338_993e29d304.jpg

Jordyn Maglalang I see. I will keep that in mind.

Just for those with the manual transmission, you can actually remove/tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt by putting the car in gear and having a friend press on the brake pedal. It will prevent the engine from rotating.
@robleroherlin6 жыл бұрын
And if you don't have a friend available, you can put a rock on the break .lol
hard work but you make it easy work nice very nice

@RallyLancer956 жыл бұрын
GregoryHouseMD1 You talking about the drip molding? It just snaps in and out
@nachosNipples6 жыл бұрын
GregoryHouseMD1 you definitely already got it but for the front windshield he it up for only a few seconds, and pull it up towards the roof, kind of diagonally. similar for the back. the sides start under the fan cover under the windshield wipers. literally yank on it a bit for the start, then after you got it started pop the rest off carefully with all of your fingers gradually till you reach the back

@ВиталяБывалый8 жыл бұрын
+dale c good job! motor swap awaits you if your crankshaft, rods, pistons is bent. then on your head if valve seats are damaged and head is non servicable, need a new head. all those parts costs lots of money in total. it sucks i know its cheaper to get another used motor

What's also draining with the coolant at 0:56? Do you have to drain the coolant too? Is 1:28 needed to be done by having to turn the key or was it to make it easier for you? Thank you, for posting this video
@DarkDragonWing3 жыл бұрын
If you want to replace the water pump, then you have to drain the coolant. The turning the key is to help un-bolt the crank bolt. If you can get the bolt out with a impact gun, then you don't need to do the key turning method.
