Very similar to our box when we look for tunas. Pin Tail, So Run, Loaded, XXX-Rap... we also use the Tackle House Flitz (40g and 75g) and the DUO Rough Trail Blazin. Nice video, as always!

Tackle House BKS 140 and 175 would defo be a good addition, bullet proof, best casting due to the magnetic system inside them (despite of their weight), best swimming, all speed, all sea conditions. If I was to use one only bib lure that d be the one, all seas, all species seem to love em, especially the 140 ...

Yeah they're a great lure! Thanks for the reminder, we'll have to get some again!

With the Maria Loaded, im pretty sure all level sinks cast pretty average because they are centre weighted. grab a floating one and you will see a mega difference the casting ability.

@idrkofficial29337 жыл бұрын
the Maria Loaded is amazing but is a very difficult to use. It needs a lot of trys to figure it out. Firstly it did not cast well for me too and i tought the action was terrible but since it costs like a Fuckin gold bar i insisted in using it. After a couple of fishing trips it showed up to the potential. Tuna and King Fish love it. I bought 2 floating ones and 2 sinking. Loaded F is easier to use and casts a lot further but the sinking one is made for boat fishing and i love it. let it fall down and then retrieve it with constant jerking.

What size hooks do you upgrade the so-runs with?
@neilmontacre42175 жыл бұрын
What do you guys think of single hook soft plastic swim baits for what you do ? Do they just get thrown by the fish more often than multi-hook plugs - due to the heavy lead heads leveraging the hooks out during the head shakes in the fight ? Or do they just not cast as well ?

@deenessop13887 жыл бұрын
Hey, how do you retrieve the rapala long cast shallow? Tryna figure out different methods that make it swim nicely...
@MorningTideFishing7 жыл бұрын
Tip low to water, medium wind and she swims by herself pretty well, throw in some pauses and sweeps and that's pretty much as technical as we get with this lure! It also hooks up on the first splash from your cast and on the drop if you sink it down. If the fish are feeding you can even go flat out wind on the surface, lure skipping and flipping like crazy and you'll get hit... Like in this vid - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIKWnX59eN2InMU If you can't get a lure to swim well sometimes playing with the hook configuration can help (so try stuff like a treble on front, single on back or two trebs etc.)
@jayv88887 жыл бұрын
This is probably my second request for a video but i would love to see the terminal tackle you guys use! hook sizes, single vs treble hooks and all that nitty gritty stuff! would love one of those, and if you don't mind me asking, i've just got into land based spinning (from sydney) was was wondering what size trebles were those on that pintail tune! i need to buy some but not sure what sizes trebles are, thanks!
@MorningTideFishing7 жыл бұрын
We'll have to make the film one day. But to answer your question we use owner hyper wire splits 60lb and above to upgrade lures, and we use owner trebles and decoy sergeants singles. The size we just go as close as possible to the original hooks on the lure because many times when you upgrade hooks you end up with a lure that doesn't swim! And if it doesn't swim upgraded we'll test and try different combinations until we get it working well. What we put on Pintail and the Sorun are both size 1 owner trebs. You might be keen on this www.morningtidefishing.com/collections/apparel/products/pelagic-off-the-rocks-dvd

Hey, I was wondering what is your guys preferred lures if you're targeting for GTs
@MorningTideFishing7 жыл бұрын
If we're going for GT we throw a few more poppers then usual... So a big Nomad popper or even just the Halco roostas or Williamson Jet Poppers but those cheaper ones tend to break pretty quick if you're hooking big GT (in which case the Nomad is the way to go). That said if they are really shut down and not hitting poppers, a tiny lure like a SORUN or Pintail Tune will hook up, only trouble then is the terminal tackle is so small/weak you can't lock up to much on them or something blows out!
@joshuaritschny92857 жыл бұрын
Just realised how bad the So-Runs are: Hooked up to what seemed to be a 5kg Pink Snapper and both of the splits STRAIGHTENED as I had it 3m off the rocks. Lost what could have been a landbased Pinky with a lure =(. I really love the lure action of them and I'm yet to find a lure with a more fish like wobble, even when you tweak it couple times during retrieve but I cbf spending the money on splits and trebles everytime I buy a So Run. Also the bib really is terrible and u guys said. Frustrated, I just bought 2 Long cast RapalaX-Rap 12's and 14's. You guys reckon that's the better choice considering I'll spend a bit more but I won't need to replace the splits or the trebles every time? Also you reckon Storm will ever just upgrade splits and hooks from the shelf or will they just keep their lures like that? Thanks guys Loving the vids, think I've watched all your videos at least twice!
@MorningTideFishing7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, we upgrade almost every lure we use now. So-Runs have terrible splits/hooks so yeah we always change them. The long Cast 14's you should be fine but the 12's I've had the tail end bend out twice and hook straighten a couple times as well. I've lost my two best fish of my life to tackle failure, one a split ring and the other a hook. After those and seeing mates have similar things happen we all just upgrade every time now. Costs a bit more but just gotta do it with a lot of these cheaper lures!
@joshuaritschny92857 жыл бұрын
Yeah the 14's hooks look solid. 12's not so much. Thanks guys. Tight lines

Do a video about what knot you use to tie your lures
@MorningTideFishing8 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHWrp4uvpd51fZo Might say it in there ^ but if not we just use the uni knot with 4 wraps to the lure. Jonny uses a loop knot on some lures but the rest of us use a uni knot.

How much drag do you guys use when hooking up and how much do you go up to in the fight?
@MorningTideFishing8 жыл бұрын
depends on the fish... if we're getting GT hits constantly we'll lock it up to prolly 5kg starting drag if it's just tuna/mackerel/queeny etc we're around 1-2kg starting and will go upto around prolly 5kg at the tightest during the fight. That said there is times when landing and guiding the fish where we'll pretty much lock the drag so we can steer the fish accurately and just let the rod be the suspension but i wouldn't recommend that. The GT 5kg starting drag we lock up to 10kg? during the fight maybe a bit more it's hard to say and doesn't make much difference (GT almost always smoke us!). Hope this helps mate!

What lures do you guys recommend for kingfish
@MorningTideFishing7 жыл бұрын
Floating stickbaits seem to work well. SXR14 in GGH (gotta upgrade and still chance it breaks on big fish). Pre-rigged Sluggos. Poppers that don't throw to much spray but instead make bubbles. Did you watch the NZ film? You will see those lures ^ getting kings in that.

Hey, have you guys herd of Van Staal? They make super durable reels, if you have herd of them is there a reason why you don't use them?
@MorningTideFishing8 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, so yeah we've felt one before and it was really rough to wind. The reels we use have to be so nice to spin with because of the hours upon hours of spinning we do. So we're not only interested in a real that is tough but it has to be super nice to spin with as well (to guarantee we put in the hours to hook up). Other then that i think the line capacity was a bit low on them when we were looking at them but they might be better now. And i hear you still need to service them about once a year so that's all our reels get anyway (a wash after each seesh in fresh water and a $100 - $200 service each year).
@lukegaffney65118 жыл бұрын
Yeah , Cheers for the reply

@MorningTideFishing8 жыл бұрын
Hey mate stoked you like our films! We're currently working on a 2.5 - 3 hour 'how to' film and have a bunch of new Apparel in the works (so are editing/designing non stop). It's real hard for us to do these extra projects while keeping the KZbin films flowing, we're also going to be filming a season of longer episodes for Fishflicks (netflix for fishing) over the next couple years and ontop of all that we gota put food on the table for our family's haha so we're pretty busy guys at the moment. Once we get a touch bigger we wont have to do absolutely everything our selves and will be able to get a more constant stream of content out there but for now please bare with us, it's gunna get huge just doing the hard yards now so it all works out in the end! Amid all that ^ I'm thinking of doing a quick bloopers/outtakes vid of all the funny stuff that happens while filming. There is some really, REALLY funny footage of a couple of the boys screaming that they have the biggest fish in the world and it ends up being a small, foul hooked macktuna haha. I gotta sting them cus it's actually amazing how serious they are that it's a huge fish lol.
@rasheed28448 жыл бұрын
+MorningTide Fishing oh crap I didn't think about that aye! You guys take your time but I think I can say on behalf of all your subscribers, we support you guys with everything you do! @MorningTideFishing8 жыл бұрын
Cool looking lure mate just checked it out but the weight (15g) is really light for us. 30g doesn't really cast far enough for us so we try to use 40g as the minimum weight (perfect is about 65g-85g but no divers that size that are small and swim well).
@JD3industries7 жыл бұрын
Any chance you could say the titles of any of your videos in this area?
@MorningTideFishing7 жыл бұрын
Hey bro if you're meaning what area we're fishing in, we go to some pretty extreme lengths (including flipping footage) to hide the exact locations we're fishing. The reason is we go to people's home towns and if we were to say 'we're here' then it could wreck a location for the the locals and we would no longer be welcome to come there ourselves. I can give you the general location for our films though. When you see calm water it's usually up central to north QLD and if there is some waves it's down South QLD and NSW. The central/north QLD zones are protected from the great barrier reef so pretty chilled up there, we prefer that kind of fishing nowadays because we can get way nicer water footage. We have a 20-30min section in our DVD on how we find locations, so that regardless of where you are in the world you'll be able to apply the same knowledge and find some good spots. www.morningtidefishing.com/collections/apparel/products/pelagic-off-the-rocks-dvd (you can also watch that on Fishflicks for real cheap). The basic gist of our research is google maps to find a good looking zone + searching forums/facebook/instagram/youtube for that zone in relation to fishing + look up charters in the area for seasonal fish information + look at depth maps of the area + measure everything to make sure it's reasonable scale and then if everything's looking good we just go try it for ourselves. I will say that i'm confident to can catch fish in any area we travel to nowadays and that specific location is important but having the knowledge of where these kinds of fish travel is far more important. So it's way better to learn the qualities of a good spot as opposed to just get given spot, If that makes sense... Once you gain that skill you can just look at a new area (google maps) and straight away see where will be good. Hope that helps mate!

All good man i get that, i am local to the area in this video (: spent plenty of weekends camping there. was just looking for anymore cool vids in the area (: cheers anyways man!

Why the first Lure have 1 hook ?
@MorningTideFishing7 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, a lot of the time we don't have the $ to upgrade all our lures (or even put hooks on all of em haha) so we tend to take hooks off one lure and put them on another to use it then take them back off etc. But i think Jonny was trying to get that thing to swim so was trying different hook combinations as well for casting/swimming tests.
