Great video. Exactly what I’ve been looking for. Own a LC 100 ‘99 and been waiting to adjust the torsion bar until now. Keep it coming!

thx for the video dude - had installed airbags on the rear - kept the bump stops in place so the back was then higher - also installed 285 tires so clearance at front was a bit too tight - put 6 turns into the torsion bars and increased clearance by 1 1/2in at the front - much better now.

Did you remove the automatic height control feature on your cruiser? You needed an alignment afterwards too right?
@saisoku722 жыл бұрын
Only the Lexus LX470 has that feature...

I cranked torsion bars because it was lower on the driver side. Vehicle did level but a few days later it got lower than where it was before. Wheels were tilted inside too noticeably. Any suggestions? ( haven’t done wheel alignment yet, wanted to make sure torsion bars sit properly)

The problem with leveling trucks is carrying a load or towing. Once loaded the front end is higher than the rear and ruins the ride, reduces towing capacity and can also create steering and front end issues. I use my trucks as meant to be used. If you insist on leveling please adjust your damn headlights.

Nice video. Do you recall about how much room you had to work with on the adjustment bolt when you started? I have about an inch or so of threads to work with and was hoping for 1.5 inches of lift before having to re-index. Thanks.
@ManMeetsGarage7 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Garland Hmmm. I don't think based on how much thread you have that's how much lift you'll get. I would start of with maybe 5 complete turns and see how much lift and threads you have left. Don't forget to measure

Do you need a front end alignment after? Or doesn't everything stay in alignment? Thanks!

Hi. Good video. I'm considering buying 100 4.2 diesel. When you adjusting barrs may be worth checking rear suspension level as well as it may affect the front. Cheers
@ManMeetsGarage7 жыл бұрын
+Michal Swan Thank you. The rear suspension level was checked. That's how I knew how high to lift the front end.

Hi man thanks for the video . I have a lc 100 series too and I just bought shock absorbers and coil springs for rear to give my car Abit of a lift . Do I need to change the torsion bars too to heavy duty or I can still use the original torsion that came in the car . Thank you
@ManMeetsGarage3 жыл бұрын
You can use original just crank them up

do all truck/body on frame car have torsion bars? F150?
@keatonchance62895 жыл бұрын
Depends on the year. For F150's some are leaf sprung, some have torsion bars, and some have independent front ends

Oh man huge thanks for this video, i own an 01 hundy and just about to hit 200K now. It's old enough that i can start taking it offroad without regret if something breaks. I plan on doing a rear spring spacer (30mm) to lift it and the front i want to lift it an inch by the TB crank method. With this, would it be enough to run 295/65/18 without rubbing? I'm not doing any crazy off roading, maybe some hill climbs and mud pit here and there. Thanks.
@ManMeetsGarage7 жыл бұрын
No Problem! Why the 30mm spacer? I run 295/70r18 Nitto Mud Grapplers. A little rub up front, but i took care of that with a trim to the fender liner. My tires almost measure 35". Hope that helps.
@vincephan3447 жыл бұрын
Oh 30mm spacer for the rear springs, not the wheel hub. 30mm equals about 1.1" so if i crank the front TB up 4 rotations like you did i can get an even 1" lift correct? Good to know i can run 295/70/18.
@ManMeetsGarage7 жыл бұрын
Yes I believe we're talking about the same. Check your shock before installing the spacer. Maybe your shock or the spring is old. Mine has 195k and my springs are soft and need to be changed out. Measure your rear from center cap of wheel to your tip of your quarter panel.
@davidfarmer7 жыл бұрын
they are soft? springs don't change rate they just change compressed length, or in the case of torsion bars twist slowly over time. did you have it aligned and what are the current fender to hub measurements, you may want to find a nice level piece of ground and loosen the front sway bar to make it a bit easier to corner level the suspension? also it would be cool to see what the fender to hub measurements are at full compression, maybe ill do a video and loosen them down all the way and talk a bit about some of the things i find quite interesting on the 100 series ifs vs the 3rd gen 4runner and 80 series setups.
@vincephan3447 жыл бұрын
Awesome, thanks for the recommendation, will that spring ride any different than stock springs? Mine are pretty comfy right now for street cruising so i don't want to lose that ride quality. Will it lift the rear at all?
@MegaMr284 жыл бұрын
pretty sure (maybe) raising your torsion bars without replacing your front shocks for longer shocks will mess with the fronts shocks ability to dampen correctly?

Orsu Srinu AHC is $$ to repair Most simply convert to land cruisers type spring/torsion bar and shocks used in the non-AHC models

what did this to you alighnment ?
@69_vw_westi4 жыл бұрын
It will adjust the steering a bit due to the movement of the pivot points. I'd advise getting a wheel alignment afterwards. It could chew your tyres weirdly if not done.
