As a young American it's surreal to know that there was a time that the union jack was the symbol of ultimate power and prestige, and that a country smaller than my home state controlled over a third of the world.

As a middle age Brit, it boggles my mind how we entered WW2 with any kind of moral supremacy. "Wider, still, and wider. Shall thy bounds be set." Hitler wanted into the big club, even formally offering to defend the British Empire should it need assistance, on condition it provided no interference to Germany's goals in mainland Europe. Funny seeing all the Brits become misty-eyed over the true origins of the song, yearning for days of empire, as if their personal journey is impacted in any way.

Same here, (A Brit) but I certainly don’t want another Empire but I do want to defend freedom our family (commonwealth) and friends and allies. I yearn for peace on earth and stop fighting wars politicians start and they them selves never have to fight in the wars they start. I yearn for more freedom less policed state and to stop the erosion of freedoms we fought WW2 to keep in part like freedom of speech and the stop of sensationalised politics, politicians and media are causing division.
