I run air lockers front and rear in my 1980 chev blazer full size 6.2 liter turbo diesel, with 1 ton front rear diffs and 1 ton tranny and transfer case ( not stock of course)....you guys really need lockets at least in rear

Why do I need lockers when I didn't get stuck? The camo disco has front and rear and I follow him everywhere. A good winch and a bit of skill works fine.

Yep I would agree, No amount of skill can stop a landy from doing what they all do and cross axle (which is clear over the small rocks we're you had to back up)and having a 'bug out' truck that is meant to go anywhere should really be prepared for such events, The last thing you wanna be doing is grabbing the winch or 'taking a run up' if the end of the world ever happens. We do a lot of off roading and wither your using ARB's or trutracks the difference is night and day meaning you can really push the limits with a landy.

not on the first night. we turned up at 2300 in bad rain so my mate got the bed and i took the floor with a bag of charcoal as a pillow. proof i can still sleep on anything when tired. it saved setting tents up tho

The camo disco has lockers and the blue one has traction control. I got everywhere they did so Id say I'm good for now. I will put a winch on Tho. Lockers are insane money and for the one off time Id need them it's not worth it unless I find a cheep one for the rear.

disco 2s don't have a centre diff lock. the traction control stops the spinning wheel. i think he is looking at the mod to put a lock on tho but he only just started modding it.

First disco 2 models have CDL but not the lever, so you have just to buy and install the lever DA1178. After these models you have change the tranfer box with another with CDL. Connect electical cable to correct pin to activate the dashboard difflock light. If you continue offroading without cdl you waste the washers in to differential and risk to broke halfshafts too ;)

I think Americans might find it a bit curious that the legal speed limit on all of these roads, including the underwater portions, is 60 mph. And most of these Welsh 'roads' are wider than most of the roads in the Scottish Highlands, but not nearly as dangerous. I'm also wondering how in a nation of bodgers, DIYers, and train spotters, why there aren't similar groups of friends spending their weekends driving their JCBs along these roads fixing them? 'Yeah, that were a tough bit there, very challenging; now me mum can zip along in her Vauxhall without waking up me dad.' [this is wrong for a variety of reasons. I apologize in advance.

EngineEngineer it's a coach built vehicle so it is the vehicle. The only difference is the rear has a space frame under the aluminium.

Not sure mate. Iv been on that many trips over in Wales years ago I might have. I only do round strata now as so many lanes have shut or have restrictions it's too far between the lanes to be worth it. Down south with the key code locks is the way to go then only responsible clubs use them. I will google those places Tho thanks.

Sorry no offense intended but here in the States you can pick up Detroits for about 800US and installed for a couple of hundred more. ARB is where it gets spendy here

+TY ACORD for mine it would be about £3000 and a pain to fit in that rear axle as it has to be heated up and stretched to get the diff in with a locker. £3k buys a lot of other stuff so most just do without. That's why all the newer stuff like the blue disco has traction control.

TruTracks again are around £700 a diff, there are plenty of second hand units about. We picked up a pair for just over a grand complete same year as the one your using. we usually stop at the bothy but it was 2300 on the first night so we stopped on the site as a meeting point and when we were on the way to camp on the lane on the sat one of the landys ended up with a bent rim and the spare was off size so we limped back to the site so it could be recovered. we should be getting to the meet on the friday diner all being well so i will see you then mate.

+Torn Apart self sufficiency. Bug out vehicles uk All part of the joys of off roading bud, I hit a hidden rock in one of them big puddles and bent a steering rod, a couple of hours later using a high lift jack a rock and the weight of the landy we managed to get it straight enough to steer again, it's all part of the fun. I'm coming up with Sandy but not sure what day, see you there bud

Mark Burton disco 2s are a bit slow but I think the problem was he was feathering the power and every time you shut off the traction control stops. He's found that if you just floor it and let the computer do its thing it works a lot better. The lane is strata Florida in wales.

What light bar do you have at the front of edna and would you recommend it??

It's just a Chinese one but it works just as well as the American ones when we tested them. It's way better than high beam but I am replacing it with a double row one now the price has come down so much.

My Reality it's not a stream it's the road it's just floods a lot as he water finds its way down the valley. If we went off the road we would get stuck in the boggy reeds and grass and it would make a mess of the place. That and it's illegal to go off the byway and not as much fun as driving through loads of water to see what the vehicles can do.
