Hi Mike, great video. Do you know where the NRV for the front washer is located on the puma 2010 version please? I can’t find it near the firewall and can’t see a way of getting to the pumps without dismantling. Any help/guidance appreciated.

Sorry I have not seen a Puma so I cannot comment - maybe someone here can help?

@@BritannicaRestorations Hi Mike, thanks for the prompt response. I have fixed the landy today, for info the NRVs are in line just before the bulkhead. They are literally the same diameter as the tubes, so difficult to see. Also, pumps are readily accessible by removing the front left headlight. Thanks for your support, your videos were the inspiration to do it myself. The puma is the Landrover 110 XS, don't know if they have them in Canada

Silicone hosing is softer and more flexible than the PVC stuff, and (as far as I can tell) doesn't degrade in the same way. Dead easy to fit as well as stretches better. I'm sure there are some drawbacks but haven't found them yet!

It's a good idea, but I have yet to see it locally - I wonder if it is too soft and can kink? Mike

Britannica Restorations I wouldn't be surprised, but then that's a problem with all of them, all depends on how you route the tube. I did have to be quite careful about not over-tightening the cable ties. It does flex around corners a lot better though and shouldn't clog up as easily in theory. I found it on the dreaded Amazon although I understand aquarium suppliers should also have it.

Hi Mike hoping you can advise please. 1991 defender rear door wiper seems rusted (corroded ) into the sleeve that sits between inner and outer door skins. Sleeve just rotates. Tried wd40 and hammering end of spindle to free it up but worried about shattering rear glass. Any tips gratefully received.

Steve Always a problem! I am not sure which motor you have, but some have a aluminium sleeve and some have a plastic one I know the plastic sleeve one has a tiny circlip on the shaft behind a rubber O ring (if memory serves me right) To get the shaft out, you need to strip the motor and take out the drive mechanism as the shaft and sleeve are a push fit in the body. To be honest I have a 50% fail rate on rear wipers when trying to fix them - too many parts break that are not cost effective to repair and they can not be bought separately The motors are usually good, but I have had countless fails in the shaft department - they are assembled in a way that it is difficult to strip and clean Always wise to take the motor out of the door when working on it! Best of luck ! If I can find a motor in my locker I will do a video Mike

I have a 2001 TD5 Defender 90 that has two pumps and two one-way valves. The one-way valves are currently on the washer line just before it passes through the firewall. Shouldn't these valves be located as close to the pumps as possible to keep the entire line after the valve filled with fluid?

Yes

My 95 300tdi when I use the washer, the fluid comes out above my feet 🙄

Hi! Hope that was a little useful It is best to start at the pump and work to the jet to find problems Sometime with the Td5, it is easier to take the front left headlamp out to gain access to the pumps Mike

You can now buy solid aluminium washer jets instead of plastic, expensive but last forever!
Hmm, you can buy an awful lot of $10 jets for $108! Nice though.. I am thinking of a system at the moment to use the same idea as on the rear of the disco 2 wiper at the front of the Defender - Far better as the jet is in the wiper arm, thus not getting blown all over - after all we have 2 rubber plugs in the bulkhead for the RHD/LHD wiper system - you could pass the hoses through there (watch someone copy this idea now!) I thought of doing that. Like this one : kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXPaoYmBo92LiZY or this one: www.reedx.net/landrover/mods/wipers/

hi.. Merc Sprinters have 3 twin jets on a plastic housing which clips to the wiper arm, i have seen these fitted to defenders but don't know if it is a straight fit or have to be hacked. i don't know how common sprinters are in Canada but in the UK they seem to die of rust after about 10-15 years so easy to find in scrap yards
