When you've worked as I have with some terrible bosses/superiors in my long career, you notice some really wonderful subtleties. When Simon said that Zach had designed the new table and then Simon had approved it, I noticed it as an unusual comment by the normally very modest Simon. The reason became clear in the next few sentences. Simon, sharing and taking responsibility for the slight mishap in the design. What a wonderful boss Simon is and so refreshing to see a boss protect their employees. This resonated with me much more than the nice new picnic table design.

And it ended up with a much better design of securing clip. 👍

I agree And also Simon isn’t Mine Me I’ve He’s a good boss

Thanks Andrew - the story behind the table was indeed more interesting than the table itself and a really valuable lesson for Zach as a young designer.... things go wrong but keep calm and a positive attitude and it may just amaze you what you can come up with ! Zach is still an apprentice but has nearly finished his course.

Love this but is there any way I could strengthen the clips? I would be looking to hang a airsoft rifle and pistol when stationary that are fairly heavy

Would it be easier to use cable wire or nylon instead of the metal Hinges ?
@johnwillett40867 ай бұрын
I guess not, as the metal straps hold it secure at the correct height and don't stretch as wire or nylon can - a much better sesign IMHO.

Can you fit the new clips to the OLD rear door table or are they only for use on the new design ?
@johnwillett40867 ай бұрын
Looks like "no", as the old design does not have the square holes where the clips go.
@L6637 ай бұрын
Sadly no but lets have a new look at that - we are getting better - we may be able to make a clip that fits over the top of the table ?
@L6637 ай бұрын
yes you are correct John

Simon, what is that between the tables left side and the door hinge. A beer bottle opener ? or a step to get to the roof ?, cant see it on your website ?
@L6637 ай бұрын
Hi Adrian - the chrome item is a fold out step - we looked at this but it did not make it as a product for the following reasons. 1 - the door material was not thin enough - we would need a stiffener panel inside the door 2 - You need to drill your door - we thought this may be too severe ?

Had the table on my 23.5MY 90, I’ve now got a 24MY 90 which comes with the rear storage tray to level up the boot floor. Now it looks like the table will catch the tray preventing the door from closing.

Have you tried this ? I have the floor on order but not tested this yet - happy to work with you to get a solution. Simon
@JamieM857 ай бұрын
@@simonjefferson I haven’t tried as yet, it looks tight though. This weekend I’ll have a trial fit. To be honest I’m in two minds whether to keep the tray in or not.

Think that's better without the cup holders, but could this be deeper there seems to be a lot of space available above when it's folded, I know it would cover the Defender wording but I think the extra depth when down would be worth it. The clips for holding could stay in the same place as they go through the holes in the base already.

Thats an interesting idea... the table takes my stove and still allows me to sit on the boot floor when using it... getting too big could restrict access to the boot area ... but i will take a look next time i am using the table and may consider a change. You are correct that it will not not impact the clips

Just a suggestion Simon, is to have all black hardware if possible.
@L6637 ай бұрын
Good idea - getting black stainless is hard - we have had a couple of corrosion issues with black parts before - its risky

Simon - really enjoy your videos as I have a 110 on order. However, have you seen the Chinese new rival to the Defender? I am sticking to the Defender, but they do have a couple of good ideas that you might like to add to your range of accessories. If you look at kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGHOp4aQprGNqtk on KZbin at 2:24 it shows a twist-lock for the rear door strut. As I live in windy rural Wales, a lock would be good - especially facing the wrong way on one of our famous hills! I think we should do what they often do to us - steal their best ideas! Have a look. Pete
