Mike, can I make a suggestion? When your talking into the camera, it's great , I hear everything. When you do work outside or wander away from the camera while talking, I can barely make out what your saying. Perhaps one of those separate fluffy clip on Microphones would be better 🤔. Just saying.

Hi Mike talking about doors im building a 1985 110 will the puma door cards fit my doors ?
@BritannicaRestorations2 жыл бұрын
They almost fit - you may have to grind a bit off in places and have gaps in others - the mid-doors are the worst as the Puma is more rounded

About the door card. What do you do when the plastic base in which you should put the screw is missing. I did not find a new base. Can this be ordered?
@BritannicaRestorations2 жыл бұрын
You cannot buy any parts for the door card except for the fir tree clips MXC1800 If the base onto which these clips attach is missing, you could try repairing with epoxy

Eagle beaks? Never heard that one before, pump pliers over here. I often thought the design of the LR was the result of make do and mend from the war yrs, everything was whittled down to the basics, with minimalist design and application. At the beginning of WW11 for instance the Spitfire was a precision built machine by the end it was as rough as a badgers ar*e. When I started my apprenticeship back in 1980 all the old boys in my place were war veterans and they had that make do and mend attitude no such this as the consumer society back then. Some of the old cr*p I had to deal with. We had this big old lathe that Noah had owned, it was as loose as a pr*ck in a bucket. We repaired stuff that should have been skipped, it used to come back to the shop like a boomerang, you would be standing on the shop floor the big double wooden doors would open and your heart would sink " Not that f***ing thing again"............good old days, ummm debatable. We did have some laughs there was this old Yorkshireman fitter, at lunch he would go to the pub across the road they would have four pints lined up for him on the bar and he would down the first three like they were water; on an empty stomach. He would come back half-cut put a tape on his deck in the workshop, loud as you like playing some country and western dross and singing along, his favourite default track especially after the pub had a chorus that went something like " you can take your job and shove it" they took the radio off him in the end.

The membrane is there to stop water from leaking into the cabin when it goes between the glass and the seal during a rain storm. BMWs have that problem where the door fills with water and doesn't drain fast enough sometimes because of junk in the drain holes. If you don't have the membrane, the carpet gets soaked.
