Land Rover Discovery 300tdi Update Report

A general run through the my Land Rover Discovery 300tdi and the condition and mods I have made to it so far. Mods include EGT sensor, coolant temp sensor, coolant level sensor, head temp sensor, turbo gauge and updated headlight wiring, to name a few.
Note: My videos are not a tutorial/how to. I am not a qualified mechanic so please refer to your workshop manual with your work. Do not use the content on my channel as a replacement for a workshop manual or mechanic.

Nice disco. Just checked out your other vids and realised how closely related us Tassie people are. I am bordering on OCD with my disco 2, and have a 1969 Franklin vintage van project on the go including a new drawbar due to rust :)

@@Dauntless244 Very good, never had issues and saved one of my old 300tdi Disco engine (had a crack between valves and slowly burned coolant without noticing it out the exhaust). So all me Disco's have them.

Thanks for the report. I am looking at defenders and discos for a touring car with a bit of 4x4. I have a hilux but am just not that inspired by it. Would you recommend the 300tdi for touring Aus?

I am naturally biased, but wouldn't travel with a thing else. The 300tdi is a Good compromise between power and economy, its also the last of the non-electrics 4x4. Biggest issue is to make sure cooling system is top notch, 300tdis don't like getting overheated. I got an get, coolant and head temperatures gauges just to keep eye on things, but thats just me. Also, Disco are super comfortable. I drove 12 hours, stopping for food and fuel and didn't have any sore back, or legs, nothing. Highly recommended 👍

@@rovertasmania7033 Cheers for that, sounds great, I got pretty keen on a d1 300 when I watched your video taking a drive... but seems to be hard to find a 300 that hasn't been maltreated, forgotten or flogged these days!... Thanks for the epic information on your channel. I'll continue the dilemma in my search and decision whether to keep the hilux!

@@jethrosallmann of you can't find a D1, there's alternatives like the Toyota 80 series or the square Nissan patrol. Both have tough drivetrains but not as comfortable like the Disco. Good luck.

Hello. I noticed that you have an air intake is directed in the wrong direction. Air intake snorkel should look to the opposite direction of motion. If he will stand in the direction of motion - may not be an increase in the staffing of air pressure in the turbine. At high speeds.

Ed Dream I havent heard that before, I know that sometimes facing it opposite is good if driving in dusty conditions. I dont drive more than 110kph.

Ed Dream Actually,its not facing in the "Wrong direction"..Majority of the snorkels are like this..look it up!!!! Yes they are more inefficient like this, but they look way better than having them facing backwards or having the efficient mushroom ones.

RustyNuts I know there are different designs, but when the factory itself tells you the right set up, then I am not going to change. Different snorkel heads are designed for purpose, but my brand is Ram Air design www.airflowsnorkels.com/category.php?cid=1

Hello! Will your front direction light enter the water? How can I fix it?

Check to make sure the glass and the case has a good seal around it. Also check where the plug goes into the H4 globe area.

I do not recommend to clean the seatbelts. Only replacement. After cleaning, they had very poorly. See video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHekZJegnbCfipIm44s Turn on subtitles.

Ed Dream Depends on what you use. I used only very mild wool wash, no harsh detergents!!! Also, video shows damaged seat belts, not good. Also, grit in seat belts is like sandpaper, eventually it wears the belt, so not good either.
