Land Rover Discovery 4, Air Suspension Compressor Fault-Finding

What component inside the aircompressor keeps the air pressure from leaking out the rear valve when its off? I bought an ebay compressor and it pumps up, but doesn't hold air. The new replacement one I received does. What can I fix or maintaince in the defected one? Air check valve? Where is it?

For the 8mm and 10mm exhaust and I believe intake line do you need insert fittings inside the line for reconnection to the compressor or is straight tube to compressor acceptable?

Mista Lobsta- New sub here , my 2010 LR4 “only normal height available” should I remove and diagnose the compressor? Also how do you reset the “service required” light?
