In this the 3rd and final part of our Freelander 2 suspension lift video series we tackle the rear suspension. This turns out to be more difficult than the front suspension lift as you need to remove the entire front strut from the car !

Use the spring to help you undo and do up the strut top. When undoing if you clamp it just enough to hold the spring in place when it’s undoing and the tension from the spring will keep the piston from spinning. When doing up if you just put the nut on a few threads and release the clamp again the spring tension will keep it from spinning

You need a set of hubcentric wheel spacers. 👍 Sadly, after powdercoating and fitting Evoque alloys, I ordered standard size 235/65/18 A/T tyres that looked completely lost in the arches. An expensive mistake. What a div ! I then had 265/60/18's fitted which not only fill the arches, but add a little more height too. Top tip. The chisel at the back of the hub means you don't need to smash the crap out of the hub which could damage it beyond repair. Also the chisel needs to stay in situ , making it easier to replace the shock. Great video again, Simon and Tyler.

Would love to see a video on how the lift has affected handling. The rear lift in particular looks a LOT of hard work and although higher clearance is definitely desirable I’m nervous about impact on road handling. Thanks for great videos. I also think it’s great you are collaborating with Beavis Pitt’s.

This is something I’ve been looking at doing with my Freelander 2. How has the increase in height affected the handling characteristics of the car? I know it’s no sports car but would be interesting to know

Any plans to do a wireless charger for the Freelander 2? Compartment in front of the gear stick may work? Wiring under the console into the hidden area under the sliding storage compartment

Excellent job. Well done guys very informative video. Lump hammer straight onto the hub casting is a bit more neanderthal than whacking out bolts that you're not going to use again.......IMHO 😬

A up really like your videos just looking at the Liftkit can't you make them like wheel spaces so you don't have to use a Spring compressor

Hmm, why would there be so much more lift at the rear of the car, and why would the same size spacer change weight distribution so much if in deep this is what has occurred. Might this be now more prone to diving under hard breaking or are the springs now under greater tension. Can’t wait for the follow up vid on this one, plus some analysis of wheel/ tyre options now Available to you. Keep up the good work fellas.

Great intructional video, lads, although whacking that casting directly with the lump hammer was pretty brutal. A block of wood between might have been a bit more civilised, eh?

Will it have to have a 4 wheel alignment done to it, as I have been informed you need to this when lifting 4x4 as it can change the camber..

This is vary interesting project. I have 2015 LR2 and I have been thinking to lift it up, but I am still not very sure about Spacer lift kit. Also I cannot find Suspension Lift on the market. Is Spacer lift kit good for long team drive(is it going to damage the car in the future? ) and go off road ? I am just concern that might damage the car somehow.

Hi Adam - so far i have not had any issues with the car after fitting these spacers. There will however be changes to the strain placed on some components and some changes to the handling but for me it seems to be a good compromise.

I cringed watching you hit a casting with a metal bolster hammer. As an alternate option, why not invest in a hide mallet or use a piece of wood and hit that with the bolster. I’d hate to see the casting break … just a suggestion.

A Thor copper hammer is a worthwhile investment. They have a bit more grunt than the hide but still don't damage the steel.
