Well done Sophie! Totally agree about Mike at Britrest. Also it would be great if you got a td5 90, firstly because that's what I have but also because with a td5, you have the option to fairly easily get it tuned for driveability and/or performance

Some people are awesome, some people are worth their weight in gold. you rate DIAMONDS. Completely disregard the critics- youtube is crowded with do-it-yourself videos but yours are positively top shelf- please keep up the great work! Overhauling a rear end differential in the bathroom was precious. In an earlier vid you painted a differential 'like a rotisserie chicken'- I positively laughed aloud. You're the BEST!

Sophie, I don't own a Land Rover but watch your videos ( I can't take car parts into the bathroom like you) your work effects are outstanding good luck with your new job. I have a Mazda project on the go but understand what you mean about learning as you go. Also on a positive, you look amazing and I mean that in a polite way.

Aside from gaining knowledge from videos, manuals and just having a go at it, your capabilities lie in both your fortitude in getting it done but also the fact that you are much smarter than the average bear as they say.

Sophie. Great news about the apprenticeship. You have demonstrated the personal discipline and mechanical interest to do well. I am a qualified carpenter (actually my second trade cert). I have worked with and helped to train multiple prospective and successful apprentices. You are cautious with your kit purchases which is one of the biggest traps for apprentices. Keeping up with the theory sections will be important and you should consult regularly with your trainers about priorities in that area. I expect that you ripped through the tool safety and site safety answers in no time. Best of luck and you should definitely consider entering an apprentice of the year competition after your first twelve months. You clearly have what it takes to complete an apprenticeship and start training other apprentices during that time. Good on you.

My daughter is studying mechanical engineering at college and just started learning MIG welding. She loves it and even wanted a gasless MIG for her birthday.

The probably outdated phrase ‘living the dream’ comes to mind. If you have a natural aptitude and the right attitude, whatever your doing comes easy. Working on old cars can be hard work and very time consuming, you really need to love what your doing and what your working on.. as for land rover security I used to know a guy who removed the steering wheel every time.. yes it still went missing :-)

I have said it before Sophie, you are an absolute inspiration. Well done on getting your apprenticeship, it will stand you in good stead (I'm an ex Land Rover Solihull apprentice myself 🙂). Congratulations on finally bagging your Disco. We had a late (98 S plate) 300TDi auto Discovery some years back. We absolutely loved her and still miss her now. Looking forward to lots more content. BTW I also hanker after a Defender 90, but with V8 petrol power. Something else to consider!

I don't often quote Eddie Hearn but recently I heard him say something which sort of personifies you. 'No Passion, No Point'...... Your passion for this and your drive to create and learn is amazing. I think sometimes nowadays young people struggle to find a passion and then drift from one thing to another being disheartened and often bored... Regarding the camel trophy I used to love that it's actually the reason I like Landover too "just hope the guy that the branch went through the windscreen was ok" oh and not sure if you know or not but it changed from Camel trophy to the G4 Challenge at least for a while. I eventually had to sell it but acquired my ‘71 Series about 14 years ago. It’s still on the road and running great. Great job Sophie!

HI Sophie, just got myself a Discovery 4, 3ltr V6 HSE 13 reg. I plan to get the tow ball, electric kit, snorkel and winch for it not sure at to the roof tent and rack yet. So that's my last car and I'm just going to spend my time and money on that from now on. just what I always wanted :).
