Its been like it since the 1990’s. I first came to Lands End in September 1976, the A30 just run out of tarmac onto a short pebble road and then into a large car park. You put your money in a metal honesty box built into a low stone wall and the atmosphere was great. All there was is the First and Last house and the Hotel. In the mid 1990’s I came to Lands End when the first attractions opened, I complained like there was no tomorrow and my Young daughter wrote a poem about me wanting to bulldoze the amusements into the sea. Its a shame but a few hundred yards either way and you are clear of the commercialism.

Thanks for watching. Personally, I think we are now in a digital age, where a professional photographer isn't required to capture such memories. This whole situation needs reviewing and updating. I feel the theme park is dated, it needs demolishing, it's tacky and a distraction to the whole point of Land's End. People are environmentally aware nowadays. Land's End needs to get back to the basics... a carpark, toilets and lovely cafe with affordable food and drink, with views across the ocean. All built with an awareness of the environment so that it fits in with the beautiful surroundings. The signpost, a focal point for all to enjoy. Keeping it all simple and joyful.

I was here earlier in the year, and was looking forward to a picture opportunity at the famous sign. My grandparents had a picture taken years ago and was looking forward to creating something similar. I agree with your comments, this is pure greed.Did leave a bad review, but I think it went over their heads.

Thanks for watching and I can totally understand how disappointed you and your parents must have felt. The whole situation removes the JOY from visiting.

Land's End is not the signpost Teresa; that's just a piece of softwood....it's THAT view behind you at 2.12...free to all!

I disagree, its part of it, goes back a long time, iconic .

There's been a charge for a picture by the signpost since 1948. No one ever says to anyone you have to visit lands end or have a picture taken ypu made the call .

I made the call to visit myself, its on the coast path, We all have the right to complain if we are in a public place, and think something is unfair.

I truly appreciate the view is all part of the 'location' - but it shouldn't be under-estimated how important it is for one to have the opportunity to take your own photo under 'The Signpost' to capture the fact you've travelled to that location. Personally, my photo was to go along side my John O'Groats achievement, part of a 2024 montage, on a canvas. So I was more than disappointed. This commercial arrangement takes away the JOY people feel on getting there. Suddenly, you'e aware you are a commercial opportunity.

Well done 👍🏻 You. Money grabbing and a horrible tourist trap. I’m so glad I was there before the commercialism and frippery.
