I remember when I played this back in college... makes me tear up. I miss playing music every day. My favorite part was always the small nod to Joy to the World near the middle of the piece. Beautiful rendition, would listen 1000x more if I could.

This is absolutely breathtaking. I've never heard this song before. Excellent mallet choice, that combined with your technique really pulls out the deepest, richest undertones of every chord and gives the piece such momentum and emotion. Sadly, I gave up playing after high school, but it was always performances like this that inspired me. Absolutely LOVE this.

Lorenzo Capasso how did I miss this reply? Yes that'd be AMAZING! I've seriously tried to listen to other interpretations of this and simply do not care for the faster tempo. It distracts from the beauty of the progressive harmonies. I would like VERY much for you to email me this. anthony.torres86@gmail.com

That's because the Vic Virth Performer, in my opinion, takes the open segment way too fast. Her technique and accuracy is superb, but this is not a fast piece. It is supposed to be a slow flowy piece, from my interpretation at least.
@cameroncavender6 жыл бұрын
SkyrimRules599 the two interpretations present slightly different feelings in my opinion. I personally prefer it faster.
@orik7375 жыл бұрын
Cameron Cavender I agree completely. Each are entitled to their own preference but to say this interpretation is objectively better is presumptuous

Well played sir! I will be referring to this video A LOT because I'm currently learning this piece and I'm working VERY hard to make it sound professional, like you did. I know that a good mallet selection can help a lot with sound quality. So, any mallet choice recommendations, Mr. Capasso?
@lorenzocapasso9 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mr Jarrod!:) For this piece I used: Left hand -> Marimba One DHB3-B Right hand -> 3(Marimba One DHB3-B) ; 4 (Malletech Stout GS13). I think that "MarimbaOne mallets" are the best choise! Very deep sound and emphasize bass!

Hi I was wondering, what is the lowest note played during this solo? Beautiful interpretation, by the way!
@GreenJetsam8 жыл бұрын
Hey I'm playing this too and the lowest note needed it the C below the bass clef(very bottom not of 5 octave marimba). That C is only played once though. But the D just above that is used quite a bit

mind sharing your mallet choice? i absolutely loved the way they pulled the sound out of the marimba, and the bass notes were nice and resonant. one of my percussion instructors is going to PASIC and was gonna pick up anything we needed as long as we paid him haha. so it'd be great if you could share your mallet choice! and wonderful performance by the way. ill definitely be referring to this video as i go about learning the solo! thanks
