That marimba is absolutely beautiful, with rich tones and feeling such emotion. I honestly felt the cello performance was lacking, as it stayed relatively static, no dynamic changes, no emotion. I felt the marimba was the best part of this piece.
@jackj.pelletier1666
@jackj.pelletier1666 6 жыл бұрын
The cello laying back only supplying extended notes and silence is what allows the marimba to sound so dynamic and vivid. Exactly what a cello is supposed to do in a piece with other musicians. Perhaps you don't find this combo appealing, no harm in differences of taste. 👍

@@jackj.pelletier1666 I agree with this, but I just felt like they are fighting in their expression and they are taking away from each other. Their moods and interpretations seem completely different which I feel made the piece overall hard to get one message out of, but regardless are both have beautiful sound and this still sounds gorgeous.

I half agree. I do think that the dynamics were a little flat for the cello, but i could definitely hear and feel the emotion in his playing.

I have always been so fascinated by this pairing. This was an incredible use of range, you complimented each other very well both harmonically and dynamically! Thanks for introducing me to such a pretty song, I will save this rendition for inspiration. ^^ I believe my ears are yearning for a higher accompaniment, perhaps a harp or something like that... but that's just a random thought :P not a criticism!

Me and my friend are performing this piece for our solo and ensemble high school festival! I'll be on marimba and he'll be playing the cello part on bassoon. We hope we can share such emotive beauty with our judge and audience when we do perform it, and perhaps put together the entire suite for a recital!

I listened to it again today, and rediscovered the beauty of this piece. I'm a cello and marimba lover, and this piece honor the two instruments together. I love the sensual way they play. And i'm amazed to see how the cello player make a peaceful pause to let the marimba player make his solo. It's full of respect. Thanks for this wonderful piece.
