THANKS!! I am just so grateful for the measurements. Being a new quilter, I have been trying to work out the math for a quarter square triangle in order to replicate a quilt my great grandmother made in 1948. That was simple and easy to understand.

I decided to make a patchwork quilt with quarter square triangles for the first time. Having looked all over KZbin, I found this tutorial to be the easiest to follow by a mile. The quarter square triangles came out perfectly - thanks so much! Also, I used the tip of making them a touch larger and cutting down to size which made for a perfect finish. Thanks also for the maths - not my strongest point!

why lines on each side of cut? Why not just cut at an angle?

Hi, DJ: The lines that you see are actually the dark thread that Penny used for contrast. The line in the center isn't there to guide the cutting ... it really is there to guide your quarter inch seam.
