Bro, the pan tile it’s drop-dead astonishing. 🎉 I’m kinda speechless. I mean, the symmetry and centered-ness the drain is one thing. That was well done. But to have your edge pan tiles land in a whole and half pieces and change of plane with silicone appear the thickness as a ground joint that’s incredible. 😮

How does the water drain from the waterproof membrane if you're adding all that thin set to the plastic spacers, you're pretty much glueing it and creating a barrier, water has to pool and can only drain through the top drain when it reaches the height of the top of the tile? Doesn't seem right? Do you have to add thin set or can it be left loose to allow drainage?

How far from the concrete slab should the flofx flange be? Looks like you have to get some drypack under the edge correct? Or does it just set on the subfloor? Thanks!
@ryankramer3 ай бұрын
Depends on the depth you want for your thinnest part of the dry pack. 1 1/4 inch seems to be a common minimum standard.

A newbie question?? You used the grate carrier to mark the tile for cutting, but the shims are a full 1/4" bigger? How did you get them to fit into the drain opening so easily? Did you cut the tiles more than the grate carrier size? Thanks.

Is there no way to avoid the big grout lines around the drain?
@Mr.Pop02 жыл бұрын
He coulda gone tighter, notice the drain was set after the the tile. Had he gone drain first and tile second he could get it down to 1/8 grout lines.
@mattcraztex99402 жыл бұрын
@@Mr.Pop0 I did see that. I myself do the drain at the same time as the tile to get the tightest grout lines. The massive ground lines just stick out way to much in my opinion. It just, dose not look uniform.
@LandbergTileTV2 жыл бұрын
Impossible in this circumstance. I could not have "gone tighter" because of the tile. Two choices are 3/8 around grate or zero symmetry around drain. I chose symmetry. Also, I could have gone 1/8 on left and right, but not top to bottom. Sometimes you don't get everything you want, but you make the best out of it.

Yoooooooo Liggy Liggy Landberg!! Fantastically done as always Bud. I mean it. A semi serious question out of morbid curiosity though. With so many customizable, foam, & fiberglass shower pans out there, why are you & other guys still doing dry pack? Process is mad enjoyable to watch I won't lie... Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!

Agree, but with this FloFX drain you need a dry pack. I'll have a video soon with a drain body that they recently came out with that works with Sclhuter foam trays!

How long have you been using the FloFX drains. I started using them about a year ago and personally I think they are superior to Schluter and Latacrete. Your work is superb. I've been in this business for 40 years 10 of which I was extremely low key pursuing a life long dream that died with Covid, but am back to remodeling showers. Here in Texas you would not believe what they get away with. Never saw anything like in Cali while I worked in the San Fernando, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Santa Clarita areas. Recently replaced two brand new showers client paid $20K in labor for that we absolute crap. Anyways, love your stuff, keep em coming.

So that we can pull measurements after the dry pack is dry to frame our niche for full tiles ending at the bottom of the sill. Sometimes we do ledgers, but mostly we don't.
