No problems mate. Normally when 'Err' comes up, there is just a minor error within the coding of the 'MX' gauges. Hi Nathan, query for you please, I have set up my ultraguage with the same configuration as you as it makes good sense, however, a review of the 200 handbook does not reveal the “acceptable” operating ranges for any of these sensors. How do you know when the temps are too high before something breaks?
@XploringOz2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, yes there is no real posted 'average' temp or ranges for this information. For me personally it was just observing and nothing my averages in various conditions. After some time with the unit you get used to how your vehicle should perform and react to certain environments and then you can monitor and adjust your driving style to keep the range stable. Is there any particular gauge you are interested in, I could share my thoughts with you? Cheers 👍
@davideccleston21422 жыл бұрын
@@XploringOz Txs for your response Nathan, I guess the key ones are engine temp, pan temp and torque converter. I reckon the Eng temp should be no higher than 95 and ideally under 90. The pan temp I have seen get up to 117, which I would have thought was too high. And as for the TC, I understand that temps over 120 will be degrading the oil exponentially, and should if at all possible be under 100 or preferably 90. I have Installed a Wholesale Automatic torque converter lockup kit, however it went on the fritz after six weeks and they are replacing it next week. It was doing a great job until then and looking forward to having it back as it kept the temps cool (around 80) and was saving me almost 4ltrs per 100km towing a 3 ton off road van. By the way, love your informative, no nonsense videos mate. Doing an awesome job brother.
@XploringOz2 жыл бұрын
@@davideccleston2142 Yeah mate, so my results are this: Engine Temps - Average around 80 degrees, maybe 85 when under a little more load or very hot day. I have seen max of about 106 degrees on a very soft and slow dune climb that required full acceleration for about 45 seconds. As soon as I stopped it cooled straight back down. I have seen it go up to about 95 when under load and overtaking or accelerating up hills etc. Pan Temp/TC - So I was seeing some very high figures before my lock up kit. When I used to tow the van there were times where I couldn't lock the transmission and the pan would sit around 112 and the TC around 125 (not healthy). Since getting the lock up kit, I'm seeing anywhere between 70-85 degrees regardless of load and ambient temp. Very happy with these results and always recommend these kits to those who are towing or modified. Good luck with your new unit, hopefully it doesn't keep causing you issues 👍 Thanks mate, glad you're enjoying the channel.

@XploringOz3 жыл бұрын
It is, the gauges will only pick up a small selection of the actual information available through the OBDII port. This is evident when comparing the Ultraguage and my Toyota TechStream software. The UG picks up about 49 gauges, where my TechStream software picks up over 100 and allows for customisation of vehicle settings. The UG for the 4.5L LC200 is specific with it's pre-programmed software, however some units are interchangeable between vehicles. This all depends on the type of software the vehicle is running. Hope this helps, Nathan.

Hi Nathan! Your video has motivated me to buy it :-) Can you share with us what alarm settings you have? What is the normal temperature for the engine and gearbox? Thanks for the reply!
@XploringOz3 жыл бұрын
Awesome mate, I'm sure you will find this handy. So I only really use two alarms. First one being engine temperatures. I set this at about 110 degrees Celsius. The car can reach this during hard hot runs, however it just reminds me to go easy and keep an eye on it. The second being the gearbox temperatures. This is going to vary a fair bit, especially if you don't have a lock up kit. I was easy getting into the 120-130's when towing without the lockup, however now I'll be lucky to get over 90 degrees. The LC200 will also activates its on board factory alarm when the gearbox gets to 150 degrees anyway. Hope this help, Cheers, Nathan.

Towing puts a lot of strain on the vehicle and associated components, so for me, my towing screen consists of: Engine temp, torque convertor temp, transmission pan temp, intake temp along with boost pressure. I believe that engine and transmissions temps will be a good gauge to detect any faults or issues early. This is not to say there isn't other important data to monitor, however this works for me. Also for towing was are some acceptable towing temps that we should work within..eg.transmission, coolant, etc etc I have 2016 200 series...any help would be appreciated. Cheers Jarrod
@XploringOz4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, So I have since been informed that these can be purchased in Aus. If they are programmed for the correct vehicle, which I believe they are, buying from Aus would be ideal, much quicker shipping. So I have found coolant temps on the cruiser to be very consistent. They normally sit around the 88-90 degrees Celsius and I've only managed to get it above 100 degrees on a long boggy beach. It terms of towing transmission and torque convertor temps, these can get quite high without a lockup kit. I found I used to get up to 130 degrees Celsius in the torque convertor (when towing), which in my opinion is not sustainable or desired. However, this is still not high enough to set off the factory transmission temp alarm, so Toyota believe it's acceptable for short periods of time. Fitting the lockup kit, I'll be struggling to get temps over 70 degrees Celsius now, towing or unladen. Hope this helps a little. Cheers, Nathan.

MUCH better appearance than a Scan Guage... The Scan Guage looks like it belongs in the 90's... That's saying something because so does the Ultra Guage but not nearly as bad...

@@lexusvip4003 Agreed, both companies could take some design tips from modern day appliances for sure.

Scangauge have just released version 3, its similarish in look to the UG, but has a colour screen..It looks like its a bit easier to set up by using the touch screen.
