some of us are looking for a little bit more comfort so now All Four x 4 Spares can convert your 70 Series Landcruiser to a Six-Speed Automatic Transmission
So today I'm going to take this 79 Series out for a drive and see how this conversion works and whether it's something worth considering for your conversion
All Four x 4 Spares in conjunction with Wholesale Automatic Transmissions has come up with a Automatic Transmission Conversion.
They've used the 200 series Six-Speed Automatic Transmission. That is proven to work here in Australia.
They've converted that into the 70 series Landcruiser so that you can have the comfort of an Automatic Transmission whilst you're out there enjoying Australia.
Now of course one of the concerns is how does that modification affect my vehicle?
Well they've done it in such a way that the transfer case will bolt straight up to the transmission and the tail shaft links will stay the same so there's really no significant modifications.
They've designed their own custom console to fit in with the Toyota design so that It looks as factory as possible.
The automatic transmission is controlled by a compushift to transmission control that's specifically designed for this Gearbox
It's going to ensure that the Gearbox is doing exactly what it's meant to do all of the time and it gives you a readout so that you know what gear you're in and what the transmission is doing at any given time and it's all programmable without a laptop
As part of the conversion, there's a torque converter lock-up switch. Now this is going to give you a lot of engine braking, when you're going down steep descents or slowing down in traffic
But it's also going to allow you to lock up the torque converter when you're in high load situations, for example in the sand and that's going to make sure that you keep the transmission nice and cool whilst they've got the interior of your vehicle apart, they're also going to fit Dynamat soundproofing to the floor of the vehicle and that's just going to increase Interior comfort when you're on those long drives.
Something that destroys an automatic transmission is overheating so to ensure this doesn't happen a Toyota front mount cooler is used this is also going to ensure that there's no cross-contamination between coolant and transmission oil so if you're really looking to make your hardcore Four-Wheel drive into something that has that little edge of luxury being the 6-Speed Automatic Conversion

This is cool, mate. Would be cooler if the conversion kit came with paddle-shifters on the steering wheel. Do you also have a test drive video of an LC70 with this kit? Kinda wanted to see if there's an improve in 0-100kph times.

Just buy Landcruiser twin turbo 200 series wagon which comes with a higher interior comfort levels & the auto box standard and do a dual cab/tray conversion with chassis extension as it's the same cost as this auto box conversion and you don't have the issue of track correction the rear diff in the 70 series. Landcruiser V8 VDJ79R manual boxes are better in every way, easier to home service, more fun to drive, stronger, more reliable (non electronic), longer lasting & cheaper to replace & rebuild, auto's are made for taxi's & minivan mum's & it would seem, people with more dollars than sense.

@@paulenright4976 A manual gearbox is far better....Full stop. I do plenty of off-road in my H151 box and do all the servicing myself, no problems. I can buy a brand new H152 box with the upgraded gearset from Toyota for $3.5K or better if I shop around. How much for a craptastic Toyota auto conversion for the V8? ten times as much. You can keep your auto mate, you deserve it.

Why? I have a 79 dual cab gxl and its a commercial vehicle. Its not comfortable or "pretty" but if you want an auto to tow your van after you have retired buy a 200 auto or a SR5 if you want a ute! Better fuel economy and alot more comfortable. If you want to do a vid, do a 200 manual.. thats more practicle!

@@hi9580 unless your of a generation that has never driven a manual haha. 79 is a commercial vehicle, 200 is not but would benefit 4wding . If you are buying either to drive in the city.. buy a prado! 😂
