I took my wife to Phoenix to visit family. We flew from Arkansas to DFW and she was very nervous having never been on an airplane before. By the time we reached DFW she was a veteran. She was amazed at the parallel runways as we saw an MD-80 landing on a parallel runway.

Flying a little Cessna 172, what I don't like when TWR clears a turbofan after I take off climbing through 300' which the airport I fly ATC has done a few times. I don't usually make a left turn until 500'. And even then I'm still over the 10K' runway. Normally though, ATC requests my left turn before they do that, but not always. Don't mind in VFR in a small C172 that ATC clears lots for take off when I'm landing, with two parallel runways they either last minute switch my runways or I can easily do a go around which doesn't take that long to setback on a final. Probably not the same for a faster plane, especially under IFR.

Takeoff clearance on 17-C for departing MD-88 did not come until Citation was on a 2-3 mile final. This seems to be potentially unsafe in case of delay on the runway. Please comment.

You have nice videos, I like the ones like this that show both the cockpit and view out front. Excellent audio too. I have a hard time getting good interior/exterior photos and videos because it's always darker inside and bright outside. How do you do it with an iphone?
@captmoonbeam10 жыл бұрын
thanks Apple. My early videos were awful. I feel like I'm getting better but I still end up with a lot of bad videos I can't use. normally I clamp the phone to the partition behind the copilot. Before we start down I set the focus to the windshield and start the camera. I can't set the light exposure but during this video the sun was always from the side or the 7-8 o'clock position. that put more light on the instrument panel. I use a y cable to split the headset audio and record it to a digital audio recorder. When I edit the video I sync the phone audio (wind and engine sound) to the headset audio (ATC and Intercom). I use the altitude audio alert which you can hear over the headset and speaker. that way you hear exactly what we hear wearing the headsets.
@appleorangeline10 жыл бұрын

sometime, a plane is declared heavy....Why is it declared that way....can't be the weight ? ...what does heavy and ???? mean thx
@MrRyeDaddy6 жыл бұрын
Denis Goulet Heavy is a weight classification that requires more separation from other aircraft due to the wake turbulence they generate. ATC is required to add “heavy” on the end of the callsign for models like the Boeing 777.

@BFKAnthony81710 жыл бұрын
Jonny Roach Do you have a decently modern gaming Computer? You should check out Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D, its basically Flight Simulator X licensed out to them, and they really did a number on the old sim. DirectX 11 graphics, more realistic looking everything. FSX on steroids seriously. I just installed my Mega Scenery X Dallas/Fort Worth HD pack and been flying F35's and F22's. I live in the Metroplex in the middle of Mecham INTL Airport, DFW and Alliance. Its great seeing all different aircraft's fly over my house. DFW has just about the busiest Airspace in the world as we have many major corporations based here. I am so close to Mecham, like less than 4 miles, I get to see B17's and DC-10's fly over a lot. Seen Chinooks, F35 and F22, F16 ect. Fort Worth is a great place to live for military Aircraft buffs.
