The plaintiff says she rented a room in the defendant’s home and soon realized the defendant had placed hidden cameras in the room, and police discovered over 500 hours of the plaintiff on tape. She’s suing for rent, a security deposit, and emotional distress. The defendant says he previously rented the room to a masseuse, who wanted the cameras for security. He claims the cameras were disconnected. He’s countersuing for defamation and harassment.

They can’t prosecute him criminally because the police did something wrong with the search warrant. Therefore, any evidence they collected is inadmissible in court. Without the evidence the prosecutor can’t prove the case. Her only recourse was to sue him in civil court for damages. He got away with the criminal behavior.
