I'm in Atlanta and I remember this story. The old property management company was trying to evict these people for years so they could renovate, but the tenants fought it for years, then C-19 hit, and they sold it, the new PMC went hard and won, so all the tenants are gone now.

My wife and I were just talking about how we (black people) refuse to take accountability. We are both black, I worked very hard and became a lawyer, we got married and had children after we married. We saved, made sacrifices, eventually we decided to stop renting and built our home (designed it ourselves) and my firm took-off. Now my wife stays at home with our children because I make well over six figures. We have savings, investments, no debt (except mortgage), 3 cars paid off and live within our means. I’m not bragging, what I’m trying to say that it took time, it didn’t come instantly, we worked very hard at everything, including our relationship but we didn’t give up. Many of us (black people) want instant gratification, over night success and when it doesn’t happen we blame whitey, slavery, or how unfair America is, hoping we’ll get free stuff without working for it.

Went through HUD-sec8 "pity-party" chant. That woman and her four children TORE UP everything in a home that appraises at $720,000.00 (California Bay Area). I decided to end the nightmare that helping/protecting/liftin' up "sistahs" was my charge to keep for being a landlord. Please be mindful that this is not only happening in low income housing. They are coming for the middle class also. Corporations are buying these properties in urban areas, renovating them, and charging astronomical prices because more affluent buyers who can afford them want to move closer to town. It's not just government housing or Section 8. If you're a renter, all they have to do is raise the rent to a number they know most of their tenants are unwilling or unable to pay, and there you go.

Thank you for posting this video. The landlord extended their termination lease period from 30 to 60 days. The paperwork that was shown showed a list of the defects of the place. It also stated that the tenants would be able to move back in after the renovations are completed. They are not evicted because eviction is permanent removal from a residence. Why is that so hard for them to understand?

For those of you unfamiliar with the commercial real estate game... The "best case scenario" is to buy a complex like that, on the cheap mostly using other people's money. 2) Evict the tenants 3) renovatel the place top to bottom (using a 2nd loan) 4) raise the rent $1,000 per month (yes, that sounds like a lot, but that's Section 8 housing, so it doesn't flow through to the tenants) 5) rent all the units 6) do a cash out refi of the two loans, taking an extra $1M tax free for yourself 7) go find your next project. How is that possible? 🤔 That extra $1,000 in rent you're collecting x 200 units = $200,000 more income PER MONTH ($2.4M annually). Part of that $2.4M is used to pay back the loan you just took. But the rest is yours to keep. And it's tax free because it isn't income. It came from a loan that the apartment complex pays back (it's business, not personal debt). AND ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT... The apartment complex offsets the taxes you normally would owe, generated from your other sources of income (that's because of the depreciation laws). This is why commercials real estate is the shit and more of our people need to learn how to be on the correct side of these deals (owners, not renters)

I renovated my 210 unit property. I moved families into my vacant units a remodeled thier unit had them do new applications, completed new background checks. If they passed the background and income check they moved back into the newly remolded unit! I ended up dening about 30 families during the process and ALL 210 units ended up being totally REMOLDED! The management company could have done this in a better way in my opinion.

The last two places we rented, before we purchased-we received a 60 day notice. The landlords had to move back In both instances. We were shocked for about a day but snapped out of it and put my head together with my husband and we got another place within weeks. We have 6 kids and pulled it together. It happens it’s the downside of renting. The second time is when we said never again and purchased.

You're telling the truth... My story l applied for section 8 back in the day and since my daughter is grown the place would be for me only. When they told me to pick up my voucher l was shaking like a leaf, because l wasn't used to the government paying the other half. Watching the women in the building and listening to them talk was off the hook. When a woman apply for section 8 to live with their children only, no man can stay with the woman. When these women get their apartment and let the man in and all that ghetto traffic starts, that's what make it hard for them to live in a nice area. People paying full rent and live in a respectful neighborhood the landlords are opting out. Since l knew l lived somewhere nice and paying full rent, l didn't want that hassle and gave my voucher back. Also, when you receive your voucher you've 3 months to find a place suitable and they've to inspect the place before moving in. Which is another hassle too, because if you found a place and it's not suitable [meaning repairs for safe living]. That means you've a choice to wait for the inspection date, but you're holding on to your full rent money from your 1st place. l told them l rather stay where l'm at and pay full rent, then go through the government hassle. If these ladies with the children didn't bring all that drama and traffic, the landlords probably wouldn't opt out in the good neighborhoods. Women with a tribe of children and don't want to get educated to work for a living, don't realized they're putting their struggles on to their children. That's why l have no sympathy for women like this, l feel bad for the children. This is why their behavior now is reckless, with no love, values, moral and respect with no hope for the future. [some children, not all] Good truthful reality post on making better choices in life.

Amen Michon! The biggest problem with that shower was that they never cleaned it. If there's water dripping down from the ceiling, you had best call & demand repairs long before the first bucket fills up. And rodents & bugs? And they want to stay?
