One of the defining sounds of London early 1989 - to be there when it all started in London in early 1988 was a real privilege. We had about 4 acid clubs spring 1988 by June/July there were about 30 or more acid nights in London and the Home Counties. It really went big fast.

This has a claim to be one of the most influential records of all time in any genre. The legendary synth stabs could be said to be partly responsible for the whole of hardcore from 90-93 and then trance - and with (I read recently) there having been 70000 trance tunes made the other year what other genre of popular music can be said to be so global.

Also....I read a few comments re' Inner City's 'Good Life' (which was off a wicked album.....maybe one of the first single artist dance music albums ever?) Anyway to my ears the stab on 'Good Life' is similar but different. The chord progression is different too, but the rhythm is similar. I never really thought of this riff and the Good Life riff as similar, but I'm obviously in the minority. Funny (and sometimes great) how we can perceive things so differently!
