If the tenants stayed there 7 plus years they must be good landlords and generous af, They probably charge a reasonable amount as well cause most landlords raise the rent every year without a college fund lol

This is a pure example of people reaching for something negative when there is nothing negative about it. By law, the tenants have to pay what they signed to. What the landlord does with the rent, its nobody's business just as long the contract is being met. That money is usually used to pay for the repairs and other property expenses. If they decide to save money to give the tenant, that is totally up to the landlord and tenant is not obligated to anything with it. My tenant had to pay for aircon repair while i was on a trip for vacation and since that was our responsibility, we reimbursed them for doing it. Of course the reimbursment is documented, but we made sure they got their money back.

People seem to like the benefits of capitalism without acknowledging they are reaping them.

Its supply and demand.. if they tenants are willing to pay whatever rent is set for them, then it is what it is.

That is such a nice gesture. It's just sad that right away people assume the worst 🤦🏾♂️ If the landlord decides to put away money to help with their kids college fund then that says to me that they been knowing them for years which makes me think they are not being robbed and also sound like both landlord and tenants have a good relationship. They rent they collect is their money and if they wanna give it to the child of their tenants then how is that a bad thing. Sweetest thing I have heard all Christmas.

I don't think the lady's overcharging, you don't have 7+ year long tennets by overcharging.

I would say they aren't charging these people more because rent is typically in line with the market and the tenants would just go somewhere else if it was higher than average. In a perfect world landlords wouldn't make much immediate profit and would largely build equity and value by the renters covering costs but there are multiple reasons this can't happen. The landlord most likely has a way they're writing it off as an operating expense then making it able to go to a savings account generating interest and when it's given to them it can be written off in a charitable manner making it a huge win for everyone involved. I hope the internet people don't deter this person's good heart going forward.

I think that’s a really cool thing they did.

Ya it seems they are not charging any extra, they are just taking a portion of the normal, which makes this a good thing

Aye that sounds pretty sweet tbh

If they were overcharging or not in the eyes of the people, the tenants have been there for 7 years. I say this again "7 years"! Obviously these tenants have been on point with their landlord for 7 years so the rental agreement made has not been an issue for the tenant through the years. There is a comfort for the tenant with that landlord for them to stay. Now do we know if the landlord have other properties? Has the tenant they are helping ever had their rent raised through the years? Do we know if they are paying less than others cause they could be the longest lasting tenants they have? We don't have the history of this landlord/tenant story to cast negative judgment. My opinion this is an act of kindness. I believe they have built a strong landlord/tenant relationship through the years and now those children will be blessed..

This does have a lot to do with capitlism, they are not wrong there, however that doesn't mean this is theft or the landlord is in the wrong in anyway.

The agreed to a contract. And they are getting money back. How are people tripping?

How do you overcharge rent that someone is happy paying for years?
@brandondavison849316 күн бұрын
All apartments have different rates for different tenants. When my lease ended they wanted to up the rent. So my friend applied for the same apartment and was quoted my original rent. You don't like q price. Do agree to it.

Nothing at all wrong with that. And I always love when people bring up Capitalism like it’s negative 😂 unless you live off grid and are completely self sufficient you are reaping benefits of capitalism. Capitalism just means if you work hard you’ll be rewarded pretty much. Anyway as long as they didn’t raise the rent all crazy what is wrong with this? People like to automatically assume and think they’re right
