a day or so ago watching ivan on pine hollow diagnostics he had another tricky one a car wouldnt start sometimes, the owner already wasted 4k on mechanics trying to fix the issue, turned out to be corrosion in the pins in a connector that had shorted from one pin to another, not enough to blow a fuse but enough to confuse the electronics. the connector was inside the driver kick panel and water was sneaking inbetween the door seal and frame.

yeah gotto love those kind of issues ! i`d not like to be an auto electrician these days, dealing with those problems day in - day out. we have a jigga like the phone technicians use where we connect a pulser at one end and can trace location of open or short circuit if you follow wires ( is ok at about 15cm distance ) and sometimes it actually helps and works ! haha cheers

are you sure it wasn't flowing out on the 35 degree level check because you didn't run it through the gears (I didn't see this). also from memory zf specifies a temp range of 30-40 (not 30-50) for the final check. last thought was why the additive? if it's proper lifeguard 6 spec you shouldn't need it. wouldn't additive just mask a problem already in the box (like worn bushings or a cracked E drum) and the customer will be back in 30,000kms? one last thought, at this mileage it's likely the pressure regulators in the valve body (rubber) are deteriorated and some of the valves are stuck open - this puts extra pressure in the clutch packs because of low clutch apply pressure. the valve body separator plate would also be deteriorated compounding the problem. would suggest you have rebuilt the valve body with a sonnax kit that engineers out all the weak points of this valve body with metal components. thanks for sharing the vid

hi, young bloke is in vehicle changing gears usually or visa versa when we check fluid level. check out lubegard website on their data/tests and products. over last 37 years i have tried every additive available to me and find lubegard the best and it works ! still you cant resurrect the dead regardless of the additive ! sounds like you know your way around transmissions, why would a separator plate deteriorate with torlon or rubber checkballs ? ( unless it has come loose or removed already )... more likely the end plugs in valve body are worn and/or leaking..a zip kit would help but cost is the factor to owners, however choice is always yours ( or owners ) to make. i like to lay out the options weighed up with my experience and costs/risks and let the owner decide. sometimes the owner is willing to take a gamble given their life situation, and i always let them know that there is a difference between fixing ( reconditioning or rebuilding ) and improving issues especially with work like in this vid. thanks for your input. cheers
