Hi Michele🌺 So 💚 your videos. You give such great ideas. My husband and I have built a new cape cod and are working on getting the inside done. The home sits in the middle of the property in full sun. I was thinking of planting some hydrangeas in the front, but like the boxwoods and those small juniper shrubs as well. I’ve watched another garden show and the hydrangeas stained their siding. What would you recommend? Thanks for your advice.

Northlawn Flower Farm found a solution when her hydrangeas stained her garage and she did a video on it about 8 months ago? She tested 3 different attempts with different products and found one that worked, I think it was a vinegar solution. I always wanted to let Garden Answer know but looked at the amount of comments they get and gave up thinking they’ll never read it 🤷🏻♀️.

An island is exactly what I’m wanting to create this year in order to add beauty and balance on the north side of our house which only has an old maple tree that is probably going to have to come down. I gave up on trying to find the "G" in a certain cable channel that USED to carry landscaping and gardening content! 😅 Love the way you use visual graphics to show viewers how to plan beds. good examples. i am a home gardener. zone 8b. the local school district decided to put a baseball complex behind my house. it is just great. i have never heard so much screaming like their hair is on fire ever before. i need a wall of something evergreen and pretty that can double as a wind/sound and spotlight break. before i break. it faces west, so it has to take the heat. i am thinking to go with arizona cypress. seen too many junipers fail here in central texas, waco area, but i would like some color variation. placement is definitely an issue for a newb like me. i like the way you alternated the placement of the trees to fill in the gaps. that is a great idea. we can't grow peonies, hydrangea, camellia, azalea, gardenia, or phlox, just too hot or alkaline here. straight up clay. :(

This tutorial was so helpful. I've wanted to add an island bed in my west-facing back yard since I get poked in the eye ☀️ standing at the kitchen sink to do dishes. (A block or two over, they lost a tree a couple years ago when a mild tornado blew through - it was a zero on the tornado scale.) 😱 My lawn guys have big machines so I checked to see how much space they need to get around. I have an arbor to allow access to the other side. I really like that "Dr. Seuss" chamaecyparis tree, but they seem difficult to find and online trees are so tiny. Rabbits are a problem so I either have to fence off the shrubs and trees for winter or find plants they won't chew on. (Who am I kidding?!)

Terrific video. I've been struggling for three years as what to do with a fig tree my husband planted in the front 1 5 acre yard near the road. It's a fig tree surrounded by grass and I luv it but hate how he just plopped it down randomly. I just hot inspired by this video thank you! I also have an intimate space between side of my house (east) and fence with a u shape of shade trees that I like to sit on a bench. Been thinking about making a small island with a moon garden. I was just afraid of making a mistake and ruining that space but now you mention islands can be in small spaces too I might give it a go.
