Thank you so much for taking the time to create these videos, Mads! I teach high school photography, and I've started using your videos to introduce my students to landscape photography. In class, we sometimes also use them as a sort of fantasy/use-your-imagination vacation/field trip to Iceland. The kids love it! What's more is that your photos are not only brilliantly executed, but the compositions are unique. They are not the run-of-the-mill iconic photos that you see everywhere online. You've managed to use your own vision to show these beautiful sites in a new way. Congratulations! I hope one day to run a week long landscape photography trip with my students, and I can think of no better place than Iceland. Best!

Hi, thank you very much for such kind words! As an educated teacher myself I'm so happy my videos work as educational and inspirational material for other teachers. Say hi to the class and wish them well 👊😁

Hi Mads, was in Iceland a few weeks ago, stunningly beautiful, a dream come true. You are totally at the mercy of the weather, but that can be in your favour. Sadly no northern lights. Love your compositions and inspirational light. Rob.

Hi Mads, Yes your videos are really helpful. Obviously I'm not going to get round to seeing everything on one visit, but your advice in the videos is incredibly helpful. Things like road numbers etc are the sort of thing someone only picks up after several visits, so for someone like me they are invaluable.

@MadsPeterIversen7 жыл бұрын
argee21 you are very welcome :) I state in all videos what lenses you should bring, so that people don't think they need exactly my gear. But in Iceland I've shot with a 5Dm3, 5Dm2 and a 16-35mm f/2.8 II and f/4. I also had a Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 but that got stolen (not in Iceland) and I have a 70-200mm f/2.8.

Hi Mads! First of all: thanks so much for a great series. I'm currently planning the details of a relatively trip to Iceland (I'll be going next week!) and it's immensely helpful to be able to see many of the locations and how to get to them in advance. I had been planning to make Reykjanesta my first stop! I have a question about the location in this particular video, though, if you can spare the time and if you know the answer. Valahnjúkur has been closed off due to cracks in the cliff. Do you know if this means that the Reykjanesta location in this video is closed as well, or is it still accessible?
@DanniEfraim5 жыл бұрын
I sent the question to SafeTravel.is and they very promptly replied that while Valahnúkur is closed off, it's still possible to walk to Reykjanestá. So that answers that!

Hi Mads. I watched this whole series and it is very helpful. I just would like to know where did you stay in Iceland? Did you do a camper van or just lodged?

It's been a mix of guesthouses, hotels and camping. No campervan yet.

Mads Peter Iverson are you utilizing standard ND filters or Variable ND filters for your waterfall shots?

I use standard. I bracket most shots so that I can blend in overexposed areas.

The name Reykjanestá is made of Reykjanes and tá, where tá = toe. So, this is the toe of Reykjanes (which is pretty silly actually, because Reykjanes is basicly a big boot and the Reykjanestá area is obviously the heel of the boot, not the toe. I think the namegivers of this area must have drunk or something - much like the confusion between Danish and Icleandic with the word Sæng in Icelandic meaning Dyne in Danish (comforter in English), and the word Dýna in Icelandic meaning Madras in Danish (Mattress) and of course the danish word Sæng meaning Rúm in Icelandic (Bed), but the danish word Rum meaning Room or Space. Someone was obviously drunk there when he changed all the meanings of these same words. But, yeah, the word Reykjanestá is pronounced Reykjanes-tá (and á is like "au" in German), with a pause between Reykjanes and tá.
@ThorsteinnK4 жыл бұрын
But, kudos on the pronunciation of the word Seljalandsfoss - spot on!

I forgive you Mads because you don’t know better. There is no such word as “nesta” in Icelandic. These are the words “nes” (næs) and “tá” (tå), pronounced “tau”.
