LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY in ICELAND - Episode 26 - LÓMAGNÚPUR

In this episode Nigel and I visit the iconic, yet less photographed mountain Lómagnúpur in southern Iceland. You literally drive just past it on the Ring Road around Iceland, but I rarely see dedicated photos from here. Nigel and I spent both a night photographing the northern lights and a morning photographing this massive rock, which reminds me of the buttes of Monument Valley in Arizona. Nigel wasn't really satisfied with his photos and you should check out his video from this location, where he talks about how failure can improve your photography.

I've seen sooo many Aurora photos, I'm (almost) starting to get aurora fatigue, but your pic of the aurora over the rock, mirrored on the ground is just stunning. I'm not sure whether to aspire to get a shot as good, or to just give up as I think you've got an aurora shot that has it all ;o)

Lol the title frame of Nigel with the red cheeks is hilarious. Glad the guy has a sense of humor! To be fair, I think maybe you've had more practice at this location... ;) Your images were stunning as usual. My favorite is probably the one with the road leading directly up the center of the frame to the rock. It's like a moody Icelandic version of that classic Monument Valley shot, and I like how you processed it to darken the rock. I'm definitely guilty of driving straight past this location, but I won't make that mistake next time!

All images are simply fantastic. Great work Mads. My copy of 16-35mm IS USM has a noticeable focus breathing, how do you handle with it in the post production when focus stacking?
