Love the image you captured Tom, the light finally did the right thing and came through for you! I felt the anxiety build as the darkness approached, I've been there plenty of times before. You didn't panic though, but instead relaxed and found your composition. What a great result you ended up with! There can be the temptation when you're in a beautiful place like that to start firing off shots in an attempt to capture it all. I like your approach, 'get one in the can' and then anything else is a bonus. I know with my own photography, I've found the more I slow down and take the time to look at the scene, the easier its been to find a better composition and I walk away happier with image I've captured. I think it's better to leave with one great image, then 10 images I'm not as happy with.

I absolutely adore your videos. Even at work, I always play them in the background and you certainly give a lot inspiration. What I really love is how you can make exceptional photos out of absolutely nothing. I just wish you changed environment every now and then... You are always in the mountains, around winter time. I currently reside in the Caribbean, would love to see what you could do here! Hopefully you went some place tropical for your honeymoon;) Anyway, keep it up! Any chance to buy a print of the red house photo (in landscape)?

Hello Thomas, good video regardless of your last missed focus statement. I admire your tenacity when you scout for photography or composition areas, and you have become quite a star with these videos because i do watch every one of them you are very eloquent in describing your passion and adventures. I believe that many others on You-Tube find it inspiring as i do myself. At times I was reminded of some of your comments in finding a composition when I went out to photograph. The L plate that I now notice on your tripod should make it easy to rotate the camera? Thanks for the good entertainment and input on your part. Cheers.

Would you consider taking photos with your dji phantom to get a higher composition? Or is it a question of quality?.
@ThomasHeatonPhoto
@ThomasHeatonPhoto 8 жыл бұрын
The quality is good and the advantages of getting a new perspective are great, but I wouldn't have used it on this occasion, because I could create a much higher quality image with the 5D. The composition wasn't so bad that I would need to resort to the DJI.

Tom, I know it's sacrilege to even say this, but do you ever think 'what if I hit this tree with a burst of flash to give it "the light"? Serious question mind as I was beset by a similar lighting issue recently.
