Oh, my oh my, what a wonderful and beguilingly beautiful place to be. I bet you were tumbling over yourself looking at all the photogenic spots you have captured in the video. Superb work there John - once again loving the spirituality and melancholic vibe in the soundtrack - delicious! More please! Mike Holmes. :-)

Thanks Mike! It's a beautiful island. Those beaches were amazing and we had them entirely to ourselves. I'll definitely be back

Stunnin' photo's. You must have been falling over compositions all day; although I reckon somebody from Coatbridge must have got there before you .... as the bell was missing 😉🤣

Haha ! aye - although there were no Buckfast bottles lying around, so I suspect it may have been some other ne'r-do-wells on this occasion!

@@JohnMcKennaPhotography During the winter I was up in the hills around Loch Lomond, miles from anywhere chasing a shot to get all of the Highland Boundary Fault islands in a line, when I bumped into four young lads from the Renton in shorts and trainers, bottle of MD in one hand, bottle of Bucky in the other, up to their ankles in snow. Couldn't meet a friendlier group, ignoring the expletives that peppered each sentence. A good crack.

Well done John What a magical place your images were incredible and pure chance you got the first trip over to the island. I’ve just booked the fisherman’s hut for next year after seeing your previous video, I really enjoy watching your trips and narration. Thank you

Great footage. I was there a couple of weeks ago as my grandfather was born on the island so it was on my bucket list. I explored the opposite side of the island to you so it’s great to get some stunning shots from your side - until I return!

@@JohnMcKennaPhotography Amazing- steep cliffs and ravines. We were lucky enough to see a golden eagle at close quarters together with red deer.

It was such an amazing day, we were so lucky to be among the first people to go over! From start to finish it was just beautiful, and I would love to visit again. Your video does it justice, with those stunning photographs, and footage! Xx

Hi John, I just returned from two weeks in Scotland. My mom's grandparents were from Aberdeen so my next visit will be in Northern Scotland and possibly Iceland. She can't walk far but her last dream is to see "the Home Land'. I'm wondering if you have been to all of the Hebrides Islands. Which three islands would you most recommend. I am a photographer and world traveler. Stunning video! THank you for sharing it with us and for sharing the details of how to get there.

Hi Lee-Anne, thank you! :) I've not been to all of the Hebrides (probably just over half) I did actually begin a project to visit them all back in late 2019 but then 2020 happened and all travel was cancelled for a while... I'm hoping to restart the project early in the Spring though! Of the one's I've visited, I'd definitely recommend the following for relatively easy access: Harris (ferry from Uig on Skye, or from Ullapool on the mainland - via Stornoway / Lewis) Mull (ferry from Oban on the mainland) Iona (ferry from Fionnphort on Mull) Tiree (ferry from Oban on the mainland ) Skye is probably everyone's must-see location and is the easiest to get to as there is a bridge over from the mainland, but that also makes it the busiest and most "touristy" but great roads and easy access to most attractions. Hope that helps! :) Let me know where you visit!

Beautiful images John quick question if you don’t mind . I see you carry an Osmo pocket with you but for your underwater photage what did you use ? Thanks.
@JohnMcKennaPhotography
@JohnMcKennaPhotography 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joy. I use the Osmo pocket 1 and 2 for most of the footage and have an old Tomtom Bandit which i have set up for underwater and timelapse B-roll
