Hi Gareth, Lovely video and shots. I originally missed your videos because of the titling of FujiFim XT2 which I wrongly understood to be more FujiFilm camera orientated photography. However having met you on Monday at the Photography Show with Andrew M I thought I'd have another look. Glad I did, now I'm a subscriber.

D Welker hey there! Good question. I’ll admit it does seem that way haha. On this occasion I guess so yes. As I have the falls as my main subject. It was just a case of finding a nice foreground.. easy in such a beautiful spot like that is! 👍🏻😊

Love when you can get the colorful leaves in the foreground...what is your thinking with shooting at iso100 versus just staying at 200 on the X-T2? ... and the shot at the start with your dog coming into frame then sitting on the rock...you couldn't have planned that any better for the video.
@GarethDanks
@GarethDanks 7 жыл бұрын
Randy Pollock haha yeah I know. I laughed my head off when I saw that footage! She cracks me up! To be honest. I can't say I see a difference! Technically I understand it's not a "native" ISO so should be a difference but I just love the ability to drop it that bit more if I need to. Rather that that smaller aperture! 😊👍🏻 cheers for the comment buddy! 👍🏻

Awesome shooting! Could you please tell me if the pictures comes from your camera directly or after Photoshop?
@GarethDanks
@GarethDanks 7 жыл бұрын
+CZ Wang hey there. Thanks for your kind comment. I don’t really use photoshop to be honest. Most of my editing will be in Lightroom. I shoot RAW so I’ll just add a bit of colour and tone to the image. Reduce highlights. And crop. Sometimes add one of the Fujifilm profiles like Caris or Astia. On occasion tho the jpgs from the Fujifilm are good enough and will allow you to add a little correction to them. 😊👍🏻

Gareth Danks yep....that’s the place. Have some great images of it, had a Sony a6000 with the Zeiss 16-70 f4 at the time. That’s gone and I’m using a Sony RX100v at the moment but that will be going soon for a Fuji system...

Were those shots taken with the 10-24 mm that you carry? You may have mentioned it but I missed it. I recently bouth a wide angle lens and I am getting some ideas about how to use it.
@GarethDanks
@GarethDanks 7 жыл бұрын
Hey phil. Yes on that vid I used either the 10-24 or the 50-140. My fav lens! Avoids using it at 10mm if poss unless you don’t care about distortion landscapes is mostly ok tho. It’s a lovely lens! 😊👍🏻📷
@paulduffy697

The small aperture tends to make the image softer..f20 not the best in my experience,.maybe try to f8 to f11 and see what you think.
@GarethDanks
@GarethDanks 7 жыл бұрын
Paul Duffy hey Paul. Thanks for your comment. I agree it’s sharper in the 8-16 region but I’m really happy with the results at f20. Coming from canon the Fuji is great wide open. 😊👍🏻📷

Gareth Danks I opted for 16mm, course I shot in the dark a lot, but that 10-24 mm is still very, very tempting 😁
@GarethDanks
@GarethDanks 7 жыл бұрын
Tomislav Miletić ah mate I’d love to pick that lens up!! I hear such amazing things about it..!! I just wish the 10-24 was wr! Love it just the same! Deciding between the 56 and the 50 next 😊👍🏻
@tomislavmiletic_
@tomislavmiletic_ 7 жыл бұрын
I have the 56mm :D My opinion is, if you need that focal length for street and landscape photography, grab 50mm. Great sharp, inconspicuous, quick light little lens, easy to carry around wherever you are. If you are into portraits on the other hand, than 56mm. DEFINITELY 56mm !!! That's the best, sharpest, bokelicious autofocus APS lens you'll find on this planet...
@tomislavmiletic_
@tomislavmiletic_ 7 жыл бұрын
Well yes 10-24 is not WR but on the other hand I handled that problem for decades with the simple transparent plastic bag. Not the best solution but definitely the cheapest... Other than that, you can wrap the whole camera into kitchen plastic foil, leaving only opening for the EVF and lease's front element. Most of the buttons will still work, leaving your camera and lens dry...

You're using a Fuji. Why are you carrying a double sized pack?
@GarethDanks
@GarethDanks 7 жыл бұрын
Haha. Funnily enough I’ve just ordered a bigger big. The Camera section of the bag is big but the clothing and accessories part isn’t. There’s a lot of padding and protection to that bag. As amazing as it is. In where the camera goes I could make do with a lot smaller Your right. But they don’t make an icu for this bag which is smaller. Hence my new bag purchase. Most of the bag is filled with clothing (waterproofs) and Food and Water. The Camera section is great tho when carrying 3 lenses and a filter case. 👍🏻 thanks for your comment. Hope you enjoyed the vlog. 😊

You guys make me so jealous being able to do all that travel and hiking. Back in the 1960"s I ran a backpacking store and hiked the Adirondacks and Yellowstone, the Tetons and western deserts.My Wife and I also biked weeks at a time. But I enjoy watching you young kids and envy your chances. Enjoy as long as you can. I did.
