I'm really flattered that you liked my picture so much, because I just started photography 10 months ago and this means a lot to me and thank you very much for the criticism of my picture and Tony you're right that that crop was much better than mine. I looked at that branch myself and decided to leave it there, but it would be better without it.

I didn’t watch this live, but it’s a lot of fun. I learn a lot from these sessions.

I'm so happy !!!...( having only started in photography during covid) that you critiqued my photo.. I bought your ebook as soon as I bought my first camera, and always try to learn stuff from you both, now to get a 5* and a PICK.. (although I don't know where I'm gonna keep the Swan!😂)Thank you Chelsea and Tony for teaching me so much (and more to learn)

I really like this critique. It’s helping me to learn composition especially. I’m mostly a wildlife photographer, but as Tony said it’s really hard to capture the feeling of being out in nature. It doesn’t stop me from trying!

Sorry I missed the live show. I was working and missed it. 😞 Thanks for giving me some tips on the Krugersdorp image. I come from the print the image and frame it generation. Like you said, I have to keep in mind most people look at images on phones now. Thanks for the tip. Keep them coming.

Thanks for the critique. I value your advice so much. Thanks Chelsea for the 5 star pick...And the editing comments: I am always looking for editing critiques. The "moon people" are harsh--I am all for stoking controversy😉. FYI (Yes, it's a real shot of the moon at White Sands) Why do people always question the moon. I have other raws from that trip that show how vibrant and prominent it was that night. You have to go to WSNP in the winter--it's magical.___D.Louise

If I can just give a little bit of critique, but it seems that every show you don't have enough time to finish and you speed up/skip a lot of good photos because of it. So why not make the show 2 hours? Also, why the need to reimport new images when there are still many of the first batch that have not been seen. It seems a bit unfair to people who were in time to upload first.
@FrankDiNardi10 ай бұрын
The reimport benifits the people who are actually watching the live show and import a photo while doing so. You can import a photo a few days early and still not have it be seen. But, if you are watching live and upload a photo early on, the reimport will give you a good shot at your photo being seen!

I'd say they can keep the same time but limit the photos, they can be randomly selectes. Example: 20 pictures submitted , then 40 from the live audience . I would much rather listen to them critique each picture

I was out of the country when you where live, so I watched it just now. I saw the picture I submitted when you where scrolling, but you didn't pick it (sunset between Giza Pyramids at 36.45). I would have been happy to know what you think of it. I know that we are not the best judges of our own works, but I think it's probably the best picture I ever took.

Not sure if you can reupload, the first 30-45 seconds of audio after the intro seems to be cut off

I love the idea of the live show, but it’s on during work hours here in the Midwest. I try to watch the streams later on, but it just feels like without being there for the live stream it’s not the same experience. I don’t know if you could do the streams a bit later in the day, but then I get it you’re running into dinner for some folks as well. In any event, thanks for all your content and keep up the good work.

Great show as always. I had to watch today as it was way past my bed time. Firstly my shot was of the Mount Etna eruption and was taken at night from 3 km away. Secondly and more importantly I can't access the Stunning Digital FB page of which I have been a member for a long time. I have no reference to it, nothing and when I search it comes up with a different group. How can I re connect? Your number 1 fan in a van now in Turkey.

How come I keep missing these Live ? Can you do these closer to West Coast time. 👌
@garywise3810 ай бұрын
Seems like you commented on the fast shutter speeds for wildlife photography more than the landscape ones. Personally, even on a perched bird, I will still have my shutter speed at 1/2000 from when the bird was flying. However I would never shoot 1/2000 on a landscape... but you didn't comment when the landscapes were shot at such high shutter speeds. Just curious why that is? Am I missing something? I hand hold for wildlife and have a hard time getting crisp shots under 1/1000 at 600mm... but you often say to lower to 1/100. Is that only when using a tripod? Or am I just to shakey?
@FrankDiNardi10 ай бұрын
The reason they say that is so that you can get as low of an ISO as possible. For a searched bird, go ahead and get the safe shots first with a high shutter speed and higher ISO. If you’ve got this shots in the bag, lower your shutter speed, get your ISO to 100 and take that nice clean shot with all the details and no noise.
@garywise3810 ай бұрын
@@FrankDiNardi I get all that but wildlife photography usually is fast and unpredictable as landscape photography is relaxed and usually always from a tripod. Do you have success shooting birds at 1/100 at 600mm? I am definitely going to try this weekend.
@shakerman5510 ай бұрын
Maybe you should try using a monopod.
@garywise3810 ай бұрын
@@shakerman55 perhaps, but I'm getting good results with faster shutter speeds.
@shakerman5510 ай бұрын
@@garywise38 I know that sometimes I need a monopod to get the shutter speed down and the ISO down for perched birds. Some people are a little more shaky than others when holding long lenses. I used to be able to do it, but not so much now. If you’re happy with higher ISO’s then you’re good. 😁

Been watching live shows since you last did them and they always felt su rushed. Why not run it longer? Run through the 2nd import so people have some incentive to send the pictures during a show as it's a lottery right now. I think the best example of show quality improving is LTT's WAN show that used to be about 1,5 hours but now is like 3-4 hours and it's more fun than ever as they don't have to rush it.

Photography is often a blend of art and real-world documentation. I think it’s questionable if you mislead your audience.
@philbrown551610 ай бұрын
@@leemarkowitz4709 Anybody who goes into an *art* gallery expecting to see photography shot to journalistic ethical standards is going to be sadly self-deceived. I create beautiful photos that people love to see. Never once have I been asked if I removed a branch from the photo. If anybody ever asked me, I would say yes, I edit my photos because they are art. I fiddle with light, shadow, color, sharpness, depth of field (in and out of camera), and all kinds of details. Really, I can't believe we are having this conversation. Years ago, people would argue in forums about whether it was "acceptable" to - gasp! - crop a photo in Photoshop! A *real* photographer would always frame the photo the way he wanted it in camera. Never mind if you had to walk off a cliff to get the landscape you wanted. Friends, it is 2024, and for all its faults, this year is not the time to be debating this anymore. Now If were taking photos for news purposes, I would follow those guidelines to the letter. (Having worked in newspapers my entire career, I know those rules and why they exist.) Any photographer who expects other photographers to follow his own arbitrary rules is also going to be sadly disappointed. Do have a nice day.
