I was part of a construction crew that rebuilt 5 blocks of houses after Hurricane Andrew. For 6 months we lived on Peacock Bass that we caught every evening out of a canal next to the work site. Most of the time we fried them on a Coleman stove, but occasionally we cooked them over a fire in a double sided fish grill. We also had swamp cabbage, and cattail tubers.

@@donaldatkinson7937 no! But cattail tubers roasted in a bed of coals is a lot like baked potatoes. You can tell the hybrids by the broken horizontal lines. If you go look straight down below the 2 dorsal fins, you will see the horizontal lines do not go the length of the body. Just a helpful tip. Awesome vid as always my friends.

It's a White Bass / Striped Bass Hybrid. We have them in Wisconsin, too. We just call them Whipers. "Sunshine" has to do with its parentage. Whether it came from a Male White Bass x Female Striped Bass, or Male Striped Bass x Female White Bass. I don't remember which makes a Sunshine Bass, or how you tell the difference. The other combo makes a "Palmetto Bass". In any case, the Temperate Bass family are really fun to catch. White Bass, Yellow Bass, Striped Bass, and all their hybrids are great sport fish, despite their sharp gill plates and spines. 🙂

This was a bit different of a video and it was great to see someone eating bass. Here in Colorado so many people get mad at any angler who eats bass and it's getting to the point where the fish a becoming stunted. When you pull out 10 bass in a row and their almost all the identical size you know the pond, lake needs some culling of the fish.

Y'all, got all Clown knifed up ! Here in So cal, we used to fish a old Citrus orchard, square bowl shaped small reservoir, close to home. Someone turned a 4 pound Pacu loose, he wuld come along and bust our bluegill lines, when we were not aware and ready for him. Dont know what happened to him or her, but the fish had about 3 hooks in its mouth when we lost track, a sad thing to happen to someone's, once admired pet.
